OK, so im new to the Ketosis WOE and im struggling a little with choosing what to eat.
Ive heard a lot of people drink BPC or eat Fat Bombs, but i have no clue a). what they are?, b). how you make them?, and c). why or when you would choose to consume them?
Can anyone help me out here with a little explanation and a few recipes?
Thanks so much.

BPC is coffee blended with a tablespoon of coconut oil and a tablespoon of butter (ETA unsalted butter). It gives you plenty of fat for morning fuel. Many people have it for breakfast and find they stay satisfied till lunchtime without hunger. I have yet to try it, but will this weekend. Google it, there is a specific person who invented it, and there have been other variations.
Fat bombs are snacks that give you a high dosage of fat; they are typically sweet. I just googled some recipes and intend on making one today! http://lowcarbediem.com/fat-bombs-recipes-atkins-ketosis/
(I'm pretty new to counting carbs as well, though very familiar with the 'primal' way of eating.) Hope this helps! Also, check out the LCHF launchpad in this group if you haven't already... it helped me immensely0 -
Thanks TiaBia. Im interested to try the BPC, but not sure if it would fill me up as much as solid food because im quite hungry in the mornings.
I'm Primal too! Well, i was.. still am in a way as i dont eat anything non-primal. I lost my 1st 18 pounds on low carb Primal - its the woe that makes me feel best. Well, so far, that is. I dont think im Keto-adapted yet so im still feeling pretty cr@p tbh, but im really hoping i will soon feel as good, if not better, on a Keto diet as i did Low Carb Primal/Paleo. How do you feel so far? How long have you been keto?
The Fat Bombs look really tempting; i might make some tomorrow if only to quell my suspicion. I mean, do they taste good or are they really just convenient fuel?
Any more tried and tested recipes would be wunderbar!0 -
There's also bulletproof tea (apparently).
As for fat bombs: I'm a smoothie and I like them.
I don't like a lot of "diet concoctions" but I like em.0 -

I just tried the "vanilla mocha" ones on the recipe site I linked... omg are they good. But the author's directions suck, they came out way smaller than I expected. No serving sizes, portions, and directions are a bit unclear once you get going. I think I'll just portion them out the way I see fit next time around. I'll try the almond butter ones next.
I still have some carb laden non-primal food around the house that I don't want to waste, so I'm fitting it in as I go. It's been a struggle, because I was primal for a long time and once I stopped it was a slippery slope. Finally got it through my head that this WOE is the one for me and have no intent on going back.
I do experience the low carb flu, which has included headaches, fatigue, and crankiness. My carbs avg around 40-60 at this point, so I don't think that qualifies as keto. But overall, I have felt amazing. And the changes in my body... I can't even believe it. My weight has been staying down, and I am no longer tortured by the inflammation I had constantly before. My mind is clearer, my skin has cleared up.. I could go on and on.

I have made B.P.Cocoa, mug of warm almond milk, butter, coconut oil and a teaspoon of cocoa, that`s nice too, not tried tea.0

@KnitorMiss posted last month about her Loaded Tea that keeps her going for hours, and I copied her post so I could find it again. I make a version now with drip coffee, coconut oil, a beaten raw egg and full-fat milk that keeps me going till lunch and adds protein to my breakfast. Thanks, KnitorMiss!LOADED Tea
My loaded tea is a combination of the primal egg coffee recipe and bullet proof coffee, but with hot tea. I loathe coffee with a passion.
For those not used to coconut oil, please start slowly (no more than 1/2 TBSP-1 TBSP at first....) because it can lead to bathroom sprints and loose bowels. Acclimate slowly and you'll be able to up it. The heavy cream and coconut oil are to my personal tastes - you can increase or decrease. Also, a lot of folks making the traditional BPC use grassfed butter. I didn't like it at the time, but might try adding it to my egg version at some point...)
INGREDIENTS:
3 tea bags (I just use Lipton out of convenience...I like it STRONG)
12-16 oz super hot water to steep
dash pink himalayan salt (5-6 seconds on my battery grinder)
2 raw whole eggs
2-4 TBSP of heavy whipping cream
1-2 TBSP coconut oil, 3 sweetener packets (prefer stevia)
DIRECTIONS:
Pour boiling/steaming water over tea bags to steep.
Shake everything except the tea in a shaker bottle while the tea steeps.
Once everything is well mixed/blended and tea is steeped, pour in 1/3 to 1/2 of the tea. Shake until you hear the coconut oil stop thumping (it's solid here until melted) and the temperature cools naturally from the combining hot and cold.
Do this again until all the tea is mixed in.
Then shake some more. Usually about 2-3 minutes of shaking because I don't have a stick or regular blender at work.
NOTES: This yields a rich, creamy, custardy, decadent tea with lots of fuel for my body. It is SO filling, sometimes I can't finish it all. It leaves me full well up until lunch, and many times, even following with a light-calorie wise lunch, I'm not hungry until 7 or 8 pm... It is so AWESOME for me.... Simplifies breakfast, and the caffeine and coconut oil give me energy for hours!
I have tried it with other flavors and such (vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa powder, chai tea - I don't like the tea bags I got), but the basic recipe is so great...
ADDED NOTE: This can also be done without the eggs. Salt is optional at that point. I find the eggs added makes me stay full longer, but a 150 - 200 calories snack with the tea would accomplish the same task, as 2 eggs are 140 calories, give or take.I have made B.P.Cocoa, mug of warm almond milk, butter, coconut oil and a teaspoon of cocoa, that's nice too, not tried tea.0 -
I made a sticks and stones proof coffee this morning
Ha
A half teaspoon coconut oil, a glug of heavy cream and some apple pie spice no sugar
It was good. I'm not a fan of slimy mouth feeling stuff. I like tart or hot but lots of butter is weird feeling. I am used to coconut oil. I think it makes your lips softer anyway.
Maybe a second cup will upgrade the protection level of the coffee
Ha!
And good morning all. Hope you are having a good day0 -
We just had a thread over in the keto group on bulletproof style coffees as well:

Lots of great ideas in there.

Oh, yeah, I wanted to add that using a whisk or a blender for your fatty drink helps tons. I use one for my version of the rocket fuel latte and it emulsifies into this delicious creamy blend of energy.
This morning's coffee is a simple "Lipix" brand vanilla keto coffee with MCT oil already included, a tablespoon of macadamia nut oil (I ran out of cacao butter), and a couple tablespoons of Trader Joe's organic heavy whipping cream. Just whisked it up with hot water. Mmm Mmm good!

Someone beat me to the loaded tea one (Which I drink every single day, M-F and most times on weekends, too!! It literally has changed so much for me!!). Thanks for the nod, @Camtosh!! @Dragonwolf was the one who turned me me on to bulletproofing and the primal versions in the first place!! In fact, a lot of my info comes from her research as well!! So thanks, there, too. LOL
Here is a list of my blogs I've written (compiling the data others have offered and my own trail and error). Personally, fat bombs helped me through the first couple months getting adjusted. Now, I do to them because I want/crave them, not because they are filling a need, and so I'm cutting them out since I'm doing better getting what I need from my food.
In my personal opinion, the BPC/BPT can be done as a meal compliment or replacement.
Fat bombs should be used sparingly unless they are the savory type, which tend to have more "real food nutrition" in them. I find most of the sweet ones to be substitutes for sweets/desserts/junk I don't need anymore, though some are not that way... The savory ones I find to be a way to boost the fat... That being said!!
I've a lot of posts explaining all these type of things I've typed out in my blog for my own use and reference, and since the search functions here suck, I'll post links here. I've also saved a number of posts by copying them, pasting them, and emailing them to myself - so if anyone is missing something specific and can't find it, I'm happy to see if I saved it!
