For those who take coconut oil or MCT oil daily-- how do you eat it? Straight up, or mixed in with veggies or a drink, or other ways?

I'm working with a dietician who recommended I take a tablespoon at every meal, but I don't particularly care for the taste by itself. I tried spreading it over veggies but it just oozed all over plate...

Prefer liquid but will take a spoon of it solid if in a rush. I have always like coconut. For fiber I eat a cup of coconut flakes and put 5 tablespoons of oil in my first cup of coffee each morning. Can not handle coconut milk/cream very well taste wise for some reason.

If you've never used coconut oil before, it can give you the gotta-go-now runs. FYI. Ramping up slowly is generally advisable.

MCT oil goes marvelously in frothed coffee drinks. I mix chocolate protein powder with my coffee, then add MCT oil and mix again. Coconut oil can be used the same way.

I use it in BPC, cook with it, "grease" pans with it, and put a spoonful into broths or soups to increase fat.

I cook my eggs in coconut oil every morning and I put a spoonful in the green tea that I make almost every day.

We use it for cooking, and eat quite a lot of fried meals - bacon, eggs, the onion leading to a stir fry etc. I usually allow 2 teaspoonfuls per person for that. You could scramble eggs in a pan with coconut oil too, but those are limited help in getting a tablespoon at every meal.

Here's a recipe for Coconut Bars that could help perhaps? From LifeCurrents on the web.
    2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
    1 cup coconut oil, melted
¼ teaspoon fine grain sea salt
    ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons maple syrup (I’d prefer not)

In a small saucepan combine first 3 ingredients. Stir over low heat for about 5 minutes, or until softened and oil is absorbed. Remove from heat, and add vanilla. Pour into a 9x5-loaf pan. Firmly pack down, and refrigerate for at least an hour. Cut into about 20 bars. If the coconut bars stick, place in hot water for a minute.

Or Coconut Bounty Bar Slice (hopefully you can translate grams if you need to - not sure where you are in the world) 1 oz is 28 grams.
    75 g dessicated coconut
    70 g coconut oil
3 T coconut cream or milk
    1 t xylitol/sweetener to taste
    ½ t vanilla essence

    100 g 72% dark Ghana chocolate
    25 g coconut oil

Mix everything together in a bowl, stirring well. Press into a small square baking tin or similar. Use a spatula or knife to cut into squares and then put in fridge

Melt chocolate and coconut oil together then pour over coconut layer. Set. Turn slice over and cut squares from bottom.

How are you eating your cup of coconut flakes? Just on their own or with some milk of some kind, like cereal?

I found a recipe for keto cinnamon crunch cereal based on coconut flakes, coconut oil & nuts & seeds - it looked great for those odd occasions a bowl of crunchy cereal with ice cold milk hits your fancy. Sorry, i digress.

I just dump them in a bold and eat them with a big spoon while reading MFP. I have thought of mixing them with a liquid but just too lazy perhaps. :)

    I like it!

Put it in coffee like creamer to kill the bite.

Use it on my skin as lotion, works great

It did help in the combination of food and exercise to lower cholesterol IMO

I usually just put in it my coffee, but I have cooked with it too. I made coconut shrimp, using unsweetened coconut flakes, and pan fried them in coconut oil. I've also fried chicken in it, using almond flour to coat the chicken. Both came out pretty good.

I use MCT oil in coffee, solid coconut oil for some cooking ( use animal fat usually though), I season my cast iron pans with it, and use it if making desserts. Also sometimes use it on my skin. I buy a fabulous natural ( locally made )skin moisturizer made with coconut oil and olive oil. Coconut oil has natural sunblocking abilities, and since I don't use chemical sunblock, will use coconut oil at times.

My favorite ways are bpc, and a cinnamon roll flavored fat bomb.

    2tbsp coconut oil (melted)
    1tbsp hwc
    Cinnamon to taste
    White chocolate sugar free syrup~1tbsp
Stir, refrigerate over night or freeze For 10 minutes. Tastes like cinnamon roll ice cream.

Not sure i need fatbombs as i dont struggle to get enough fat or calories in my diet at the moment, but i am feeling more and more satiated with each day i stick to keto and if my calories/ fat macros decrease significantly as a result, i will definitely give this recipe a go. It looks really yum (although i think i prefer the idea of bpc over fat bombs, but who knows until you try it.)

My question is, where do you get your White Chocolate SF syrup? Which brand?

I just bought some Walden Farm Calorie Free Pancake Syrup and its gorgeous - really exceeded my expectations - so im interested to know what other calorie free syrups taste really good as i know there are a few out there that are meant to be pretty gross.
