Weigh IN Sunday

You can either list your actual weight, how much it changed (hopefully for the better), and/or percentage. It's up to you so do whatever makes you comfortable. Feel free to post any other real wins for the week like NSV or whatever you feel like sharing.

Wow - you were up early (or late?) creating this new thread Scott! After all my daily weighing this week, I thought I was gonna have to report an end to my little streek this week. But it seems I pulled it out at the last minute - only .4 lbs lost this week, but better than nothing! I seem to slow down and have difficulty when trying to lose enough to get into the next 10 lb range. I wanted to be solidly in the 140's by the time I left for my trip - but I'm close enough I guess!

I leave this coming Friday - I'm pretty excited about it ☺ I won't go hog wild with my diet or anything, but I probably won't be a strict as I've been so far either. My goal is just not to gain. Hopefully we'll be doing lots of hiking and that will help. If I have time, I'll still try to sneak in some DB workouts too...

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Yeah I did that before I turned in. I'm such a night owl these days!

Way to pull out a loss for the week and keep your streak alive Kristine! Good luck getting back on track Debbie!

Well.... believe it or not but I pulled a huge loss this week. 5.2 pounds and I'm at 221.4!!! I'm the lightest I've been this year by 0.2 pounds and this was after we went to the big city of Turlock for a night. My son was taking the ACT on Saturday so we went down Friday night to stay in a hotel so he wouldn't have had to endure a 2 hour car ride before taking that huge test. Anyways, I overdid it with the eating... huge plate of BBQ pulled pork, ribs, and tri-tip on Friday evening, a big breakfast at the hotel (eggs, sausage, hash browns, Belgium waffle, etc) and then El Pollo Loco for lunch, complete with that deep fried cheesecake dessert that is so good. At least, I only had a Lara bar for dinner. Amazing enough, I actually lost 0.2 pounds over Friday and Saturday. But I'm sure if I did that again, I would gain quite a bit. I couldn't help myself.. I was so hungry so I ate. Hopefully you'll have better control than I did when you go on your long trip Kristine!

I leave for my big hike next Sunday, so I'll weigh in before I go. I'm hoping I'll see a huge drop since I'll be so active during that time. I do plan on eating well (I've been preparing homemade backpacking meals this past week) so that may offset all the calories I'm sure to burn. I'm really excited about this trip! I'm also hoping that if I'm good this week, I can turn in my 220# card (as Rudy would say) before my hike!

Congrats Scott! :) I see from your scale 'check-ins' that you're continuing to do well through this week too. I think you may have turned in that 220# card... It seems the exercise really makes a difference. It does for me too. Just make sure you're continuing to take care of that shoulder. Have you considered seeing a physical therapist as opposed to a chiropractor? I had real issues with bad rotator cuff pain once where I couldn't lift my arm more than about a 45 degree angle away from my side. I went to 6 PT sessions, and they fixed it right up! I haven't had a problem with it since. I hope you have a great time on your Epic Hike! I'll send some good thoughts your way on Sunday for safe travels. Hopefully I'll be hiking around too by then.

Good Luck on your Fitbit challenge Debbie! How's it going so far? I was sent a challenge for next weekend, but I don't think I'll join that one because I'm going to be driving 1600+ miles from PA to WY from Friday through Sunday, so I don't think there will be enough opportunity to get steps. Anyway - I'm rooting for you to win! :) You should send me a friend request on Fitbit and we can challenge each other! This is my profile link - https://www.fitbit.com/user/3C8YT4

Is it pathetic that this morning as I was doing my daily weight check I had a mini panic attack because I suddenly realized I'm not going to have a scale to weight myself on for 16 days while I'm gone?? lol! I'm seriously considering texting my sister to see if there's room in the toy hauler bathroom to put my scale. I take comfort from my daily checks - even when I'm up, at least I know the damage and what I've got to do to get back on track. I'm not planning to lose, necessarily, while on the trip - but I'd like to be sure I'm not packing the lbs back on too (or not too many lbs anyway)...

Thanks Kristine! I don't know what is going on but I have lost another 1.8 pounds the last two days and yes, I'm under 220 (219.6) this morning!!! I'm not sure if I can turn in my 220# card now or if I need to have a few scale readings under 220. I wish Rudy was here to clarify! :'( I'm thinking I'll be back above 220 this week for at least a few readings since I have so much variability.

I actually haven't been formally exercising but I have been very active doing chores and getting some last week preparations for my hike, which is mostly dehydrating some food. I could go the easy route and get the packaged backpacking meals but those are insanely high in sodium. I know I'll need extra electrolytes because of the extra activity but I'd rather not eat real salty food. I rarely add salt to my regular meals so anything real salty taste terrible to me. Plus the easy way is not the way I roll! :p

Seeing a PT is a good idea. The shoulder is mostly better but on occasion, the pain comes back although not nearly as bad as it was a few weeks ago. I'm really thinking it's stress related because I don't think I injured it, unless those lat pulldowns with the bands we did during the BL Bootcamp really took it's toll. Back when I had some pretty bad back issues, a massage therapist pointed me to a book about how the mind will cause body pain to distract you from other worries and stresses. I thought it sounded pretty hokey but once I read it and followed the suggestions on how to deal with it, my back pain went away. It will come back every now and then but it's usually stress related and I deal with it. Maybe my mind is targeting my shoulder instead of my back this time around.

I'll be sending good thoughts your way when you are on your road trip. Driving that far will be both an adventure and a drag, but hopefully more of the former. Yeah I think you should take your scale, especially if it helps you stay on track or at least within reason. Then you'll know if you need to extend any hikes or not. You may want to anyways but it would give you extra motivation to get up that extra hill!

It depends on how we are feeling and the way things go but the hike my buddy and I are planning to do is this: leave from Tenaya Lake and go over Clouds Rest and conquer Half Dome and return back out Tenaya Lake. Both of us have a real healthy fear of heights so it will be interesting to see if we can do it. Last year, I was able to get up Half Dome but I may not have if that pregnant lady was able to do it (and at 7 months pregnant too)! Anyways, I have 6 options of various routes we could take. The main goal is Half Dome and Clouds Rest would be a nice to have since we are there kinda thing. A couple options actually have us hike back down to the Valley floor and take a shuttle back to Tenaya. We have 3 nights in that wonderful place so I'm really looking forward to it!

Yeah maybe you will be the only one around for a bit, but only for a few days. I guess Hysteria is scarce these days and not seeing Rudy for so long is extremely puzzling.

I know , I wondered if Rudy had to leave early but you would have thought he would tell us. My husband ashes are scattered at Olmsted Point. We had spent alot of time up there.

I'll have my phone with me, and I plan to try to continue logging my food, so I'll probably check in from time to time still over the next two weeks. :)

I did a little 'happy dance' this morning! When I did my daily weight check, I was finally under 150 at 149.4! Woo Hooo!! Like Scott, I'll probably wait for a couple more below 150 weigh-ins before I officially turn in that 150# card - but it was a good start to my day.

Yeah, I hope that Rudy is doing well wherever he is and that he comes back to us eventually. We miss you Rudy!!
