Sherry - I also struggle with balancing rest, working out, and then all the craziness that parenting young children involves. As well as making sure I have "me time" and time with hubby, and then any other appointments. It all gets overwhelming. I'm glad you're taking a week to rest and recover though. It sounds like your body definitely needed it!

Marla - so glad all your living arrangements are coming together! Moving is stressful enough, so I'm praying that you make it through the next six months or so relatively unscathed. :)

I totally collapsed yesterday. After all the hours at church working with small kiddos, I needed the rest. So I didn't do much but feel refreshed today. Which is good as hubby starts up school again this week. He has been going to school for about five years, with a few weeks or months off here and there. All those years I've been having to basically deal with the kids and the house on my own. He basically would work, come home and sit at the computer doing his schoolwork, and then sleeping. So the four month break he took felt fabulous. He was able to help out with kids, and spend time with everyone and even get his own workouts in. He's a naturally active person (kind of makes me puke a little) and so when he has to sit all day he gets depressed. But we are back into it again and I'm feeling a bit nervous. He only had two 8 week classes left though and then he graduates! So I just have to make it sixteen weeks and then I'm completely free!
This week I'm probably not going to do much training. Today I do plan on doing my "homework" from my trainer. But mostly our yard is a disaster but it's also supposedly be over 110 every day. So if I want to get yard work done I'll have to get up literally at dawn and spend a half hour every day getting stuff done before the sun hits us. So that will be my workouts this week. Today I'm going to get the house back in order. I've got the grocery shopping done and laundry had been run. Just need to put clothes away and do a general sweep of the house, putting all the random crap back where it belongs.
I tried overnight oats and loved it! It's quite tasty and easy, and very filling. I also found out that eggs don't contribute to bad cholesterol. I can't binge on them, but and egg or two a day will not hurt me (high cholesterol runs in my family so I have to be careful). So I've got hard boiled eggs as a quick snack, as well as babybel cheese for when I'm in need of curbing my munchies...as well as Greek yogurt. She also told me that sourdough is the healthiest of the white breads which made me happy as I still cannot get myself to eat whole wheat yet so it seems a good compromise. Combine that with the overnight oats and hopefully I'll be getting a better balance to my diet with less sugars and more other stuff. :)
    Have a great day everyone!

I get exhausted just trying to take care of myself, so I'm not sure how those of you with young children manage it. :)

I'm not in a very good mood today. I didn't sleep well last night. My spring allergies are still kicking my butt. Due to either one (or maybe both) of those I have a headache. The marathon I was supposed to run is this upcoming Saturday (the 20th) and now that it's just about here I'm having a hard time again dealing with the fact that I'm not going to be participating. I'm just cranky. I have my trainer tonight so hopefully a good workout will cheer me up.

Val, if you feel adventurous try some of the nutty, seedy grain breads. I'm not sure how they are called in U.S. (Maybe like 12 grain bread or smthg like that) but they have whole grain/nut/seeds in them (you can see them thru the wrapper on the bread) and are so delicious and really good for you. I have to actually be careful not to overdo it on that kind of bread, even being nutritious, just because of calories and I can't seem to reel myself in its so good!

Laura, I know how you feel. I really want to run Athens and the way I was training in March and April, I started to think it was possible...until Achilles/calf aaaagain. Now I saw someone post on a Facebook group that they are coming to run it in Nov and asked advice about Greek language learning (apparently he runs in a different country every year and learns the language before he arrives for the race!). All I could think is, this guys going to learn Greek and run the marathon in about 6months and I've lived here for yeeeeears and can't even come close to either! Ugh!

Well today is the first day of school vacation and already some behavior problems. Only from my lil girl though. Result was that after walking during the tutor, I also got to walk the whole way home because lil girl couldn't behave in the bus. I have to crack down, because I need somewhat good behavior before embarking on that long trip to the U.S. Anyway, the walking was good but I was feeling some pulling in my right calf and tenderness in my ankles. Idk anything anymore. The great news is that I had been pondering whether to return to the dream gym in TN, or to try my sister and nephews cross fit gym...but today I leaned they merged! I'll probably just stick to the gym half, but still cool option, plus my favorite trainer there had left but has now returned--a lot of changes since I was there las year with two ownership changes, but by the time I get there it'll be just better than ever with the trainer I like, a new powerlifting room and adding cross Fit! I wish I could move the whole operation to my home neighborhood!

Healthy plan for today plus prep already done and went for walk with work pal. I'm reminding myself of what works and just doing the next right thing.

Ball game was fun but sun got to me even though it was only 63 degrees. Got a bit sun burned on arms, glad i wore long pants.

Just got here to napa again, enjoyed our trip down but now i have sinus headache again. Really fighting this, havent felt good since thursday. I have a lot to do this week so hope it gets better, meeting a friend tomorrow in Sonoma.

Last night we drove to Trinidad next town north of where we are moving and beautiful beaches and fir trees, pricey area. Found some great hiking paths by the beach for when we are there.
