Exactly as the title says.....I'm really craving the granola/muesli type cereals. I don't have them with milk. Wondering what I could substitute it with, if there is anything. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Toasted coconut, slivered almonds and pumpkin seeds.
Good on it's own, even better on top of some full fat Greek yogurt.0 -
There's a ton of low-carb granola and 'cereal' recipes online that look great. One of them was called Frosted Cinnamon Crunch or something and it used nuts, coconut flakes, seeds, butter etc & baked in the oven, and then she cut it into little squares and glazed them with whipped egg whites, sweetener & cinnamon. It looked nice - a bit like Cinnamon Grahams or whatever theyre called. I'll try to find it for you if you like the sound of it? I know its not granola though, so if thats what you're craving in particular just google Keto Granola or Low-Carb Granola and you'll be spoilt for choice0

I was just about to ask something similar. Every morning I open the pantry to see granola, honey bunches of oats and cheerios. I used to be a big cereal eater and I really miss the crunchy milky goodness... I will have to try that recipe!0

Im struggling to find the recipe i mentioned; i'll keep looking, but here's something similar without the frosting and using seeds & coconut oil, baked into squares. You could add your extra cinnamon, maple flavoring or vanilla powder for more flavor:

I was pondering making a coconut flake, hemp heart, seed, and dried ginger type cereal. Haven't gotten brave enough yet.0

Some of these are paleo, so you might have to sub sweeteners or adjust to be fully keto, but...sure makes me with I liked coconut!0 -

FYI, some of these I have saved because I'm on the site's newsletter. Others were linked to some of the first ones, and still others came up in a google search... Just in case you were wondering.
And I'm glad they help. I'm good at compiling info. LOL0 -
Fabulous recipes KnitOrMiss! I'm wondering what to do for maple syrup / honey? Perhaps Vitafiber syrup? Anyone have experience with Vitafiber syrup (used by some to make Quest Bar substitutes) ?0

Molasses can be used in smaller doses. I would be likely to ask someone who has gone from Paleo/Primal to LCHF/Keto. I think @Dragonwolf is one who might have some ideas. Never heard of that syrup. So far I use a blend of artificial sweeteners, but I haven't used any major recipes yet. For Maple syrup, one of the grades of it is naturally low carb, so maybe the lowest carb/least sweet one for the consistency then a little stevia or xylitol for the difference? but like I said, I haven't ventured this path yet so I don't know specifically. I'd have to see in the recipe what it is used for and how. Coconut oil, coconut flakes/chips, and cocoa butter can often be used for consistency. I've heard a lot of folks use coconut flakes with coconut oil to bind things together...0

I tend to sub honey/maple syrup for artificial sweetener and natural maple syrup flavoring, with a dash of water. Works for me.0

Just made this last night:
http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/2012/07/cinnamon-faux-st-crunch-cereal-3.html
I used mix of erythritol and liquid sucralose as sweetener. The finished flavor is predominately flax & cinnamon (the hemp seed must have a more subtle flavor). Although I don't love the flavor of toasted flax, I found this cereal to be very tasty. I'm enjoying it as a snack instead of breakfast food.0 -
Glad you're liking the recipe, Drawn. I'll be giving it a go soon.0

Coconutty..THANKS so much for the faux cinnamon cereal..I bought a ton of hulled hempseed on sale, and now need to find more uses.0

I just tried this one too:

Love the toasty flavor! Would like to add some kind of sweet syrup for flavor and texture. I'm going to buy some Vitafiber syrup (from Amazon) and give that a try.0 -

Does it taste nice? Good recipes are worth their weight in gold, arent they - I'll be making some myself soon i think.

Any ideas on what to sub for the hemp ? Coconut shreds maybe? I can't find it in my neck of the woods for less than 25 bucks.0

You could try another seed (eg. sunflower, pumpkin) and/or nuts (almonds, macadamias, pecans, walnuts). I think a mixture (of the same quantity) could work.
Have a play and let us know how it turns out

I have been having just plain golden toasted flax seeds in a bowl with cinnamon. No sweetener. Nothing else. I learned that from the TV show "Psych!" of all things. I sometimes have it for dessert at night, but it could easily be a breakfast.
I only have a couple tablespoons. Very small single serving.
