This is Just Meat June for me and the weight loss which had been stalled has started again, so I am glad. I am quite sure that my body was catching up with the work I had done in April and May when I saw and felt my size shrinking....well now I can see it on the scale too. It's starting to slow down now, so I expect that the next week won't see much change. It simply can't continue at this rate. Who knows ? My weight may come down in steps, where I see no loss for a month or two and then something like this happens.
June 1 - 96.8 / 212.96
June 8 - 93.9 / 206.58
June 15 - 92.7 / 203.94
I noticed that TMI...but bathroom trips became more frequent initially, which feels weird since I know I am eating zero fibre. I feel so good, that I think my body was simply getting rid of the stuff it didn't want from my higher carb diet about 3 weeks ago. Now the bathroom trips are not as frequent, so maybe I'm getting acclimatized to ZC.
It's been so interesting to me to feel the change in my body and see the impact on the scale as I tweak my diet. I saw it with nuts, cheese, and sweet tastes before ZC, and now can see that if I eat a bit more processed meat products, which I don't do often, I instantly retain fluid. I'll be staying away from the ham from now on... I noticed cravings to eat more after eating ham of questionable origin from work yesterday and sure enough the scale went up a bit this am. It could be other factors of course, but it is so cool to be able to observe how changes in what I eat might affect my body and mind and digestion, and sleep, etc.
I did cheat a bit a couple of times, with a few fresh cherries and a bit of dark chocolate. I'm only human, but just had a taste and moved on. But other than that I've stayed as close to ZC as I can get. (I just couldn't imagine summer going by without a few cherries.) But now I've gotten that out of my system for now. Who knows how this will turn out in the long run...it's too early to tell yet, but I'm liking ZC. WE'll see how I feel when the garden comes in....and see which veggies call out to me and how I will feel about trying some...0 -
My challenge was to maintain under 20 total carbs and today is day 27. I'm pretty pleased so far.0

My goal for the rest of the month is to abstain from all processed sweeteners, and really limit fruit0

I slipped... my husband was worried about how poorly I have been feeling and bought some blueberries and thus ended my spotless ZC month (managed 28 days so I'm happy about it). Tasted scrumptious. I'll stay towards the ZC end of spectrum but it's Summer and I've decided to allow myself some small treats. 25g berries, 2g carbs. I can live with that (I hope).0

My at least 1x per week weight lifting that I thought I would be able to increase this week did not happen. Crazy week happened instead. I am still going to try to get the 1x in before the week is done.0

I ate the burgers my wife bought me with the blue cheese in them. One of these days, I'll get completely away from dairy. But, who knows when it will happen.0

Hi I'm new here. My goal is to stick with the plan and work out 3 days a week. I'm on a physician monitored very low calorie protein plan. It's day 7 for me. Still a bit foggy. But I lost 7 pounds in these first 6 full days so I can't complain.0

Late again! Only had one day when I didn't meet my exercise goal, but now I have tibial stress syndrome0

I have finished my ZC month and will now slowly reintroduce low carb, low GI veggies and fruit into my diet. I'm happy with this experiment, not least because it forced me to confront my issues with animal foods.
ZC, the good: easiest woe I've ever tried, I went a full month without eating outside of the animal kingdom except for a few coffees with coconut oil. And for most of the time I didn't even think of food. The diet is boring (to me, that do not particularly like any of it except for eggs), BUT it is almost impossible to overeat (and when I did go over my cals I averaged by naturally eating much less the following days) and I've never felt hungry.
It looks like ZC "reset" my metabolism so that I started losing again. In this month I lost 4kg (~9lbs) and I weight now 116kg (~256lbs), less than I did 15 years ago.
There were some issues with fasting glucose levels but for the first time ever I got continued normal numbers for most of the month so I'm counting it as a win.
ZC, the not so good: mostly the "plumbing department" and, for the last days some weird symptoms and general malaise. The feeling unwell may have been partially from the plumbing problem and also my own fault and the result of blood sugars out of control due to too many hours without food (the downside of never hungry). When I do ZC again I'll make sure to eat smaller meals, more often, and keep a closer track of BG during the day.
My conclusion is that, for me, ZC is good as a reset and fall back diet but I'm not as convinced it would work as a lifestyle. Even though I felt many benefits and the not so good would be easily corrected, I'm not convinced it is healthy to give up all veggies. There are no essential carbohydrates but there are many essential vitamins and other nutrients in vegetables and most humans have always eaten fresh vegetables when in season and pickled ones when not.
From what I've researched this month, it was usually because/when nothing else was available that humans followed a ZC diet and the woe (not to mention lifestyle) of the Inuit or Masai is not reproducible using the foods available to us. I will return to ZC if/when I hit a plateau again. For someone like me, who still has very low HDL and a B12 deficiency, an injection of animal protein now and then will likely be beneficial.
But I'm now returning to LCHF. I plan to do it slowly so for the next couple of weeks will still eat mostly animal foods. I'm curious to see how the weight and blood sugar reacts to the change. Unfortunately my next lab tests will not precisely cover this month but since this was the most extreme change I did since the last tests, I'm also curious about what they will show. I'll have results within a couple of weeks (if I get the prescriptions, that is).
All in all, a great experiment and one that would never cross my mind had it not been for this group support and @FIT_Goat looking so fit!
Thank you everyone!

I'm on day 5 of being sugar-free. Processed sweeteners are the substance that most triggers me to overeat and go against my health goals. Going good so far, although the temptations are very present every day - especially host days - I love ice cream! But I will love being a healthy weight (and not getting diabetes) even more.0

I got a bit off track with my 30-Day High Intensity interval training challenge, but I just swapped out a couple days and got right back on track. And my original June goal, to not weigh all month, is still going well. I'm tempted today, after fitting into my old undies yesterday (sorry if that's too much info), but I'm trying to meet my goal. All in all, I'm really glad I joined this month's challenge if for no other reason than to prove to myself I do have will power and control over myself. And I'm starting a new fitness habit I definitely intend to continue--I've probably only once before stuck with working out this consistently for this long. Yes, I know it's only been three weeks!0

Despite deciding NOT to continue eating veggie carbs, I've had a lot more carb creep in the last week than I would have thought possible. Plus side is, I'm at my lowest weight yet since February when I restarted LCHF. Still trying to stay mostly meativore, just because it's so much easier than fussing over the carbs.
Actually this month's real "one" challenge (one I succeeded in) is to drink at least 75 oz water each day. The app on my phone has really made that possible. It bugs me if I haven't logged water in a while, and it bugs me SO much that I will actually get up to go refill my bottle. Even on weekends, which would normally see me dehydrated from drinking more coffee than watery fluids, the app gets me to catch up before it gets too late.0 -

So far so good, I am maintaining under 20 gr total carbs. No weight loss this week as I have been indulging a little too much with cheese... so I removed it and will reintroduce as a condiment in a couple of weeks.0

I don't know if it's the same one she uses, but I know @KnitOrMiss has mentioned that she uses one called "Water My Body" a few times. It's the same idea as far as I know.0 -

Cool, thanks!0 -
Not great at checking in LOL Maybe that should have been my challenge! On the bright side, my water intake is WAY up partly because I was trying to be more aware of it and it's been unseasonably warm here . Look forward to keeping up on this hydrated way of feeling !!0

Goal reached: maintained under 20 gr. carbs (total). Yay me!! still going strong day 41. I already do IF (5 years) so won't be participating in July challenge.0

I failed. Came down with a nasty summer cold on the 22nd and didn't have the energy to work out anymore (still haven't completed the 30-day challenge, as I'm still fatigued from being sick). Then I was taking medications and not eating the same way I was, so I stepped on the scale. Oh well. I made it more than 3 weeks, so that's good, right?0
