OKAY I TOTALLY HAD EVERYTHING TYPED OUT BEFORE MY BROWSER CRASHED AND NOW I'M MAD.
Tyler and Taylor both weigh their food, except when the plate is too big to see the numbers. Tyler is a complete suborn anal-perfectionist and absolutely positively must reach the serving of 28g. Taylor on the other hand sees no harm, no foul when it weighs 27 / 29 / 30g.
Does it really matter ?

I don't think in those number levels.
Like I've heard of ones weighing the spoon they lick the food off of while cooking, to include in the meal they will eat when finished.
But I don't hear them ever say they weigh the dirty and then clean plate to subtract what wasn't eaten there.
Balance will come.
Besides - the inaccuracy in the label is greater than that.0 -
Depends on your OCD level. I always shoot for the exact gram measurement. I'll add more if I end up at 27. But I won't subtract if I end up at 29, because I'm a fat kid at heart.

It really is context dependent.
Is it only a couple grams off? It may slow weight loss in theory, especially if its a few grams over each time if high calorie foods. However, in the long run it may be more beneficial as it may make adherence easier. It also may be better behaviorally to allow a little 'slack' - it really depends on the person and their goals.
At the end of the day, everything is an estimate and our TDEE varies day to day and week to week. As long as its not counter-productive to someone's goals - neither is 'better' or 'worse'.
To me, it matters more that Taylor, for example, can adhere to a caloric deficit without having to force himself to be more OCD than he is naturally and as such, be more likely to sustain his diet.0
