I was at a big regional store here in Michigan and was looking for full fat yogurt and found this interesting food: Labne Spreadable Yogurt Kefir Cheese (pics below my sign.)

I just tasted it, and it tastes really good. Its not too bad on carbs, 2 tbs = 1 g. I did a back-to-back taste test with Whole Milk yogurt, and I think the Labne tastes better.

Comparing to Walmart Whole Milk Yogurt:

Size: 1 cup Whole Milk Yogurt: 227g
Calories: 190
Fat: 8g
Carbs: 9g
Protein: 20g

Labne Spreadable Yogurt Kefir Cheese:
Calories: 480
Fat: 48g
Carbs: 8g
Protein: 8g

Certainly fatter than whole milk yogurt.

Its texture/consistency is like a a Greek yogurt, maybe a little thicker/smoother. But not as thick/stiff as Cream cheese.

I think I'll try eating it with some chopped berries. Maybe stuff some jalepenos with it and wrap them in bacon.

Have you heard of this food? How do you use/eat it?

Thank you,

Dan the Man from Michigan

I haven't had that particular brand, but I have tried kefir-based spreadable cheese and it is delicious. I have had it with smoked salmon and capers, or proscuitto. (On bread, though.)

I hope I can find this in stores around me!! Kefir is awesome for natural probiotics and source of fermentation!
