So we begin Day 4 !! I got my 45 minutes of treadmill in starting at 0400 am! I am on the 4th Disc of Grimm Season 3....shucks! It is going to end soon!! Oh well, I have a lot more TV series to watch in the future!

Time Zone here Karen is +3 UTC.... and you are - 4 UTC...which puts you 7 hours behind me. Hope that made sense. If it is 7 am here in my area, it is 0000 am your time. When I am on my treadmill at 0400 am, it is 10PM your time on the East Coast.

Another hot and windy day today. Up to about 108 F with hot winds at 50 kph. Hummm wonder if they would call them the Santa Anna winds here like they have in southern California!! lol

Two meals down and one to go!! Have a great day folks!

xxoo nancy

Day 4... OK, I'm putting this down as todays BIG challenge.... I brought my lemon to work today to make sure I drink more plain water with lemon instead of so many mix-ins. Trying to get to more natural water. Plus lemon water is a natural diuretic so that along with my water pill should aide in fluid loss. I am most definitely retaining fluid. So with all that said... I want to drink 2-20oz glasses of water with lemon wedges in it.

You can do it, Cari! Sip sip sip!

Nancy, Hurrah again for hitting the treadmill!

We are under a severe weather pattern right now, with booming thunder and crazy lightning. I love a good storm and would be up enjoying this if I wasn't bloody exhausted!!! I had so much sciatic pain last night that I doped myself up on vicodin, which I almost never do at night, stayed up until 2 a.m. Started raiding the fridge at midnight... ugh... I STARTED healthy with an apple and cheese, then a ham and cheese sandwich, but fell apart over the leftover birthday cake frosting (why did I save that????). Sleeve to the rescue--By 1 a.m. I was vomiting up half of it. By 1:30, the rest was shooting out the other end like volcanic magma! From 2-6 a.m., I tried sleeping, but the intestinal cramps and gas were insane--I was so afraid of crapping all over Jim and the cat and the bed, that I just lay there clenching my butt cheeks. oh my god! bwahahahahaha!!! Yes, thank you sleeve for another lesson in not eating sugary and fatty foods.

Cari, does your body "eject" these foods too? It certainly helps me stay on track by reinforcing negative consequences.

Today is finally neurosurgeon day! At 2:30! I hope I get a better answer than "lose more weight."

Okay ladies, let's rock day 4!!!

    Too much information!!!

OK, I finished my day , food intake so-so, treadmill done and stopped eating at 6 pm! Now 6:45 and just checking in before bed!!

Take care guys!!!! Stay focused!!! (and gas free!! LOL )

Hahahaha! When I have more time, I'll tell you the horror of eating an entire package of sugar free cookies before putting on my wetsuit and boogie boarding at Hampton Beach. You KNOW your Farts are TOXIC when your sister can detect them under water!!!

We're almost at the halfway point in the challenge, ladies! Nancy, I am thinking of taking a page from your book and putting a time limit on when I stop eating in the next challenge. Night eating can be a huge problem for me. I've been trying to get in bed to read for an hour or two before bed, because once I'm upstairs, I won't go back down to raid the kitchen, but last night was a reminder that I'm not "cured." Other than last night, I'm doing pretty well. I really hope I'm on track for my 4-5 pound loss. I won't get on the scale until the end of the challenge because the scale makes me crazy, so I'm just going to have to trust the process!

To finish up my challenge goals yesterday, I did some reading on turmeric and it's health benefits. I found a recipe for turmeric roasted cauliflower and will try that today. If it's good, I'll post the recipe here.

Okay, that's the end of my mid-day babble. I'm sure I'll babble some more later. Hope all is well and you are both having a fabulous day! I've been adding people to the group all week but don't see anyone jumping in here, so it's just the terrible trio for now, I guess. Let's kick some challenge butt!

    Hey ladies!!

Karen, unfortunately my body doesn't reject any food yet. Still hoping for dumping syndrome as it can still show up. So sorry to hear of your troubles last night. You're right when you said sleeve to the rescue. My RNY doesn't allow me to eat much foods and I can eat just about anything, food wise in smaller portions. That's one reason for the switch to LCHFMP. Need to get healthy and eat the best way for my body and my mental health.

Nancy have a good night sleep.

    Hello everyone!

I made it back safe and sound from my camping trip. I had an amazing time out there with my friends. I was able to get out in nature, go on some hikes, play tennis and do my best Karen impression by getting into a lake to do some water sports. I was even able to do a decent job with my eating. We didn't have anything outrageously unhealthy and everything was eaten in moderation.

I had a good realization today that while winging it can bring some results, I need to make sure that I become a better planner for the future I want. I need to focus on the goals I want to achieve and what actually has to be done to get there. It was a little sobering, but in a good way. I am feeling some motivation to get a solid plan together and make my future the best it can be. I am sure I will need to be held accountable for the goals I make and that is one of the great things about this group. It is a place where I will be able to post my goals and plans for you to see and that will add extra incentive to make sure I do it. A part of this realization was the fact that all my goals need to work together. My health, financial, education and life goals are interconnected and need to be treated as such. I can't try to change a small portion of my life and leave the rest the same and expect great results. I don't mean I plan a complete overhaul, but I need to think about how these goals work together.

Well that was my blather for the month haha. I hope you all are having a great week. I will try to be a bit more coherent the next time I post, but I promise nothing.

Ah, Zac, I love your blather. Nothing like a week in nature to clear your mind. You are SO right about making a plan and being accountable. One "baby" step to take is to get back to logging all your food. Nancy and I are doing this for the ten day challenge, and it really is eye opening and mind blowing. For example, I made a birthday cake for Jim on Sunday, and if I had to guess the number of calories in a slice, I would have said 350-400. NOPE. 667 for a "normal" slice. I'm guessing my generous slice came in at 1100. Before MFP, I could never figure out where all this weight came from... now I have a record and am forced to look reality squarely in its chocolate pudding covered face.

Whatever your plan, I'm happy to cheerlead!

Well gang, Day 4 is almost complete for me. I'm planning an early bedtime to make up for last night's debacle. Today was an up and down day. I had a late start getting out of bed, felt depleted after the vomit and poop festival, and as soon as I put my feet on the floor the excruciating nerve pain started. An HOUR later, after lying in bed and doing every kind of stretch the internet has ever shown to relieve the pressure (and some that are illegal in many countries but would get me a high paying job in the porn industry), I managed to take a 15 second shower without sobbing, and got dressed and into the car to head to the spine center.
The good news is that my neurologist said that if I wind up with surgery and a spinal fusion, I do NOT have to give up boogie boarding in hurricanes. That made me SO happy!!! The bad news is that we're going to try some more drugs and some spinal injections and then just hope the ruptured disc heals over time. Because I have three troublesome discs and some fluid buildup and stenosis, I'm probably looking at surgery, but with the injection and some PT to build up core muscles, hopefully I can delay that until I've lost more weight. I'm definitely a better candidate at 390 than I was at 494!!!

My goals for the day have been met, yahoo, and I stayed in my calorie range. No frosting today, lol. Not even tempted!

Hey Cari, something that might force your hand with your RNY. I made a bargain with myself that if I wanted to eat something junky, I first had to eat something healthy, preferably protein. I keep cooked chicken, turkey, or lean beef in the fridge, and I eat 3-4 ounces of that before grabbing the junky food. What happens is either I am full and don't eat the junk, or I do eat the junk but much less, or I eat too much and wind up vomiting. A few good vomits are all it took to force me to make better choices, although obviously I have slipups sometimes. Tonight was a perfect example. I filled up on grilled hamburger (no bun) and salad, so when Jim started noshing on birthday cake again, I had absolutely no room for it. That doesn't mean I don't want it or CRAVE it, but since my body will just revolt and I'll puke, there's no point in eating it.

Wow. I am the queen of ramble tonight! Hope you all have a fabulous time in dreamland tonight and awake feeling charged and ready to take on the world!

Ahhh Zac.....I think I need to go on a camping trip and come back like you!! Full of reflection and goal oriented. Wonder if I can camp in the polluted desert here by the road side!! Well...guess that won't be happening anytime soon with women not being able to drive here and there is no way in h@ll I am going to be left alone if my driver dumps me alone on the road side to fend for myself!! lol

Karen...I like your idea...to fill up on healthy food like protein before I mindless eat other stuff. I may have to try it. I also have a 'portion' control container progrm I suppose if I got off my big bumm and tried, it might work too! (I have a furball sitting in front of my computer screen and I am trying to type and can't see what i am typing...ah....she moved her bum! )

Well Cari...I am soooooo excited for your Vegas trip and a bit jealous too! Just be careful of the food challenges you are going to face.....there is alot of them....I suppose i would be afraid of the 'drink' challenges too....when i was there my friend talked me in to getting one of those HUGE tall glasses ...not even sure what the heck was in the drink...but it was huge and blue....drank it all...and can't remember anything after that! LOL I noticed I spelled 'outlet' mall wrong in my previous post...there is a North and and South Outlet Mall in Vegas...I like the North one, but the other was good too. And my FAVORITE store is the Western wear store ....loads of cowboy/cowgirl boots!!! just going in there the leather smell is wonderful!!! (Hope no vegetarians on this board!!)

OK folks, my Day 5 begins....need to get my treadmill in...it is 0415! I am LATE!!

luv ya all and leave ya all til later.......nancy

The best part of my protein before junky food post? Autocorrect kept turning "junky" into "kinky"! bwahahahahaha!!! I'm not exactly sure what kinky food is, but I want some!

Have a great, successful challenge day 5, Nancy! And beware the kinky food!
Oh, and Lise (maoribadger) is in the UK.
