Let's talk honey

Right before I started learning about keto, I got in the habit of having a morning glass of filtered warm water with 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and the juice from one lemon squeezed into it. And at night I would have a glass of warm unsweetened almond milk with 1 tablespoon honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. I'm diabetic and I read somewhere (pinterest, I think?) that honey has a lot of beneficial qualities as does cinnamon and that the lemon juice aids in digestion all day long. And then I learned about keto and started working toward that which meant no honey or lemon juice. While I aim for under 30 net carbs I'm pretty darn happy if I wind up under 50 carbs. The thing is, I really felt like the lemon juice, water, honey, cinnamon combo kicked my day off to a good start and I felt better on the days I drank that than I did on days I didn't. So my actual question is does anyone know if the benefits of these morning/evening drinks are worth the added carbs? Or is it truly best to give them up?

I would ditch the honey but keep the lemon juice.
A Tablespoon of lemon juice has what, like 1.5 g carbs? If you like it, keep it.
Perhaps you could plan a super lo-carb day and have your honey in the AM for 1 or 2 days of the week?
I kind of get it, I had half a Hershey's bar (10.5 g carbs) for desert last night.
It's hard to give up the things you like, just make it all add up at the end of the day.0 -
Sounds like a good plan. Too bad they haven't invented carb free honey yet lol.0

Honey is more paleo than keto. Here is a good article on it. http://paleoleap.com/honey-paleo/
