Hey guys!
I'm on week 4 of the program. Actually, this is my second week to be on week 4 of the program, BUT this is my first week of actually being able to complete the workout for week 4 of the program!
Usually what I do is I get up, have a coffee, wait about 15-20 minutes, and go do the workout. This morning, I had to drive in from somewhere else, so by the time I got home, it was about 3 hours post-coffee. But I didn't want to eat anything right before working out, so I just went straight to it.
It was so much harder than last time! Probably because it's hotter and I was running on less fuel. I was getting a little discouraged and started thinking to myself "Holy crap, I'm going to have to repeat this week AGAIN" and "I don't know if I can finish it this time." Then a couple of high school cheerleaders showed up at the park, and I was more concerned with not embarrassing myself. Then I realized they were going slower than me. Not only that, I was going farther. So then I started telling myself, "I've done this before, I can do it again." And I did! The girls got there after I did, and left before me. Maybe it isn't that big of a deal, but it definitely made me feel good about completing the workout today.
It reminded me that even though I'm going pretty slowly, and having to repeat workouts, I'm still making progress. Because those girls would have outrun me a month ago.
Just wanted to share!

Great Job!!!
Its the little realizations that sometimes put the hardest things into perspective Keep at it.... I'm starting W5 tonight after repeating W4D2/3 twice each. I have it in my mind that if i don't try W5D3 I can't really fail. I have been doing ok on my treadmill but this morning i dropped back to W2D2 and ran outside for my first time in a very long time, just me and the dog, and I completed it...... in about the same amount of time and same pace as when I did it 3 weeks ago on the treadmill.......
Keep moving forward! Thanks for sharing....0 -

Congratulations! Although you really shouldn't be concerned with speed, especially if you are repeating runs, sometimes it is these small victories that keeps us going. I will never forget when I was in about the same place as you and I was passed by a muscle-bound high school kid who was easily running TWICE as fast as me. I literally felt wind as he passed me. It was pretty discouraging. I will also never forget the first runner I passed on the trail (much later).0 -

Thanks for the story. I do the same thing on the treadmill. I find myself checking the speed of the person next to me. I used to be self conscious about how ridiculous I must look huffing and puffing. Just keep in mind this is your journey and have fun with it. Thanks for sharing your story0
