Holding my own; me vs. The Trust Fund babies

I live in Brooklyn and work in Lower Manhattan and tend to frequent the gyms close by, which are full of young members. I find that when the classes are more of a competition, I fall short which I hate; yes I spent my youth being picked last for teams in gym class and I've had enough of that.
Well, well; so I take The Pursuit a few times; a visual and interactive Spin class, and not only do I get personal bests in time and effort, I don't finish as close to the bottom as I thought I would!
I know the important thing is to push myself, work hard and have fun. But you know what? A little positive feedback is pretty nice too !!!

Amen. Sometimes we just need a little pat on the back. And when we are dealing with those whippersnappers... they look at us as if 50 won't happen to them or that they will always be and look as cool as they do now. Mwahahaha. They wish!0

You got that right. I'm learning to pass along more compliments in life, it seems to be contagious because I seem to also get more in return. What we are telling ourselves is still always what matters the most.0 -
So very true. It is human to like acknowledgement. Maybe that is why I am here. Thanks for the support people.0

I'm a 59 year old retired fire chief who had a heart attack a year ago, and I enjoy the look on the young firefighters faces when I deadlift 2850

That sounds like a really interesting spin class! I've never heard of it. I do spin 3 times a week. I actually like being next to the young'uns because it does push me to do better.0
