Of my life goals is in the category of "HOME." We have a 45-year-old large A-frame house (3 floors) that was originally built as a seasonal home, poorly insulated, and "creatively" constructed (the splash guard on our third floor tub/shower was a mudflap from a truck, for example), and we never have enough money to fix all the things that are broken and all the new stuff that wears out.

My underlying VALUES for my HOME goals are Order, Comfort, Ease, Safety, Beauty, and Family. I want my home to be a comfortable, safe place that I can share with friends and family. My immediate goals are to put Thompson sealer on all the decks by mid-July (we won't discuss the full can that Jim accidentally broke open and spilled in the back seat of his car on Sunday... what a mess!!!), replace the inner french door panel that imploded last winter, replace the kitchen loose lay linoleum with??? maybe wood flooring?, replace the carpet on the 1st floor with??? again, maybe wood? or cork?, clean and declutter, and fix all the trim and replace outlet covers that were removed during our last project (removing most of the drywall and re-insulating). Long term goals are to replace the septic system with a filtered system, replace the culvert in the back stream, and put an addition on the house for more functional work space.

Before Still's, I could have done a lot of this work myself. Now I'll need to pay someone to do it, so my biggest obstacle is money--which leads me to both my CAREER and FINANCES goals, discussion for another time.

My destructive thoughts about these goals are that we'll never have enough to do what we want to do; Jim is NOT handy unless it involves electrical work; I'm handy but crippled. My destructive behaviors are that I don't just take on one little corner and get that done. We've had covers off of most of our sockets for THREE years... ummmmm... I can't put them back on one at a time??? Actually, at this point, I don't even know where the covers and screws are, LOL. I think I need to buy new ones.

My goals are something I still have in progress right now but

    Home
I'm finally living somewhere I like so my immediate goal is to finish unpacking as Im being very lazy and avoiding the boxes. Im gonna give myself to the end of the month for this
My medium term goal is to finish the garden and put up some decor. This is going to take me to the end of the year and will involve digging up some large rose bushes and putting down some border plants as well as finishing putting up all my pictures etc
My long term goal is to have the rental lease renewed which will be helped by the short and medium term goals and turn it from a house to a home.

    Weight
Short term - to get back on track and start losing again which means breaking this miental block I have over being 15-10. This is for the next 2 weeks
Medium term - into a size 18 for my sisters wedding and a 16 by Xmas. Im working on dress sizes now as weight seems to be driving me batshit
Long Term - Id like to be a size 12 as Im a curvy girl and cant see me ending up a 10. But im keeping that loose for now as is my time frame. 2016 perhaps

    Health/fitness
Short term - finish C25K. Its a 9 week course but Im giving myself 10-12
Medium Term - Do Monster Race and the RFL Pretty Muddy in Sept and Oct.
Long Term - I'd like to do a powerlifting competition and deadlift 120kg, bench 70kg and do an unassisted pull up. Im looking at a year or so for these

    Work
Short term - finish my database I am working on and get my training up to date
Medium Term - get promoted to Sister. Theres more posts available in six months time
    Long term - Undecided

    Family
Short term - spend some quality time with my kids over the summer holidays as we all seem to be in a lazy rut at the moment and now the weathers nicer I want to teach them to ride their bikes

Short term goal....get my stuff sorted and either sold, given away or packed up!! This has started and will continue thru til September.

I think this is classified as medium range goal.....if November is 'medium range'.....MOVE home to AZ!! With all my cats and stuff!! Get settled into my home (fortunately Karen...I have had it remodeled over the past 2 years. Step by step and my nephew did if for me. The the only thing left is to turn my patio into a 'catio' and my brother is going to do that for me in December!

Long range? Is that January....get a job!!

As for weight/fitness: keep taking these mini challenges to keep me moving forward and lose some weight and get fitter!! I would love to try a C25K again....just hpe my knees hold up!

Family: when I get home, spend some quality time with my mom and dad (he is failing and she is caring for him and I need to be there to help her out and support her as his time draws near).

And Karen, I know I will never have enough to do all I want...but this is the life!! We work with what we have and make the best of it!! (Says' someone who is leaving a good paying job....and going home to NO job!! AND over 60 too!!)

Well now, maybe time to resurrect this thread! I feel like something popped in my head tonight--maybe just the result of not having a house full of company for the first time in 2 weeks. I actually have Time to THINK.

What I find myself thinking tonight is how to break down my longer term goals into ten day increments, then these increments into achievable daily activities. I've always been a "balls to the wall" kind of person---cramming all night for an exam, producing a work project in a 48 hour weekend marathon, grading student papers at 4 a.m. with a huge pot of coffee. I suck at working in increments!

So one of my GOALS is to learn to set and achieve goals! LOL!

I can tell already that tomorrow will be a big list making day for me. We don't have any more overnight company until mid-August, so this is a great time to focus on me and our home and health.

Well I think I am on track with my short term goal....sorting out. Seem to do it every weekend! I only have 4 months left here, so I am moving forward! Slow but sure! I usually leave things to the last minute too Karen, but if left sorting til the last minute, I am sure it would be VERY costly as I would be taking unnecessary stuff home! I have not started 'round 2' yet.....I keep finding things i have not sorted out yet!! Like have you recently checked your 'drawers' and seen what has fallen in the back or fallen down behind the drawer to the bottom of the cabinet. Amazing what shows up!
