hello, i am so pleased to be here psyching myself up to (hopefully) progress to running 10k! i'm somewhat leery of progressing to the 10k program, so i'm treading in slowly. i have definite issues with body mechanics and have struggled with a sore back, sore knees and now a significantly sore ankle (sigh). i'm on a wait-list to see a specialist and hopefully get some resolution and solution(s) enabling me to continue doing something i really, really enjoy and leave the discomfort in my dust.

i quite liked the "active" c25k app and not even halfway through it i downloaded the 5k to 10k program to use on my phone. i also enjoy using endomondo to track all my workouts since my pre-C25K days and with a premium subscription notice i also have access to 10k training plans.

i'm curious to know what other people have had success with and which programs they enjoyed. i'm leaning toward the "active" app simply because it's familiar, but tracking in endo, and the active app while also running music means i'm pressing a lot of buttons after i lace my shoes. i'm compelled to try the endo training program for ease of use.

thanks in advance for the welcome and the feedback. i'd be lying if i said i wasn't intimidated by all the experience around me, but know i'm REALLY going to appreciate surrounding myself with people who have some real miles on their shoes.

;)

Welcome! Don't worry we don't bite and before you know it, you'll be dropping back to the C25K group and giving advice yourself :)
I used the Bluefin Apps C25K, and then B210K programs. I never really experimented with any others. My first lot of recordings we just on the C25K app, when I moved onto B210K I had found and started using Strava, so lots of button pushing and screen flicking to get going too.

I've heard good things about Endomondo, but never used it myself. If you've only just finished C25K, my advice is to run the 30-45(ish)minute runs you were doing at the end of C25K, 3 times a week, for about 3 weeks, then either drop a run, or drop them all down to around 20ish minutes for 1 week, then start your 10k program. The lighter week will give your body time to help with it's repairs before launching into the 10k program.

Go with what ever program works for you, and take your time. Don't be concerned if you need to take a week off to recover either (If it drives you mad that you're not running, then you're doomed! DOOMED! i tells ya. You've really become a runner :p )

Welcome!! I'm new too. Graduated Sunday and started B210K Tuesday. I ran day two today. Maybe I should have ran a few weeks as suggested. We'll see. I'm here to learn and grow as well. I'm glad I found this community running is addictive that's for sure. I've been running three apps too. B210K, Map My Run, and Pandora. Looks of clicks before I start. I'm interested in hearing the feedback myself.

I use the Endomondo plans, so far for 10K, HM three times and I started the marathon plan but picked up a chest infection and had to review that plan.

I've found them solid plans, although the active replanning based on actuals is a bit odd initially. They have a cooper test in week two, so generally on first build the plan is very conservative in terms of pace and then recalibrates.

What I have found is that the distances feel a little aggressive at times, for example my first marathon trainng run was a 10 miler midweek. That can be tweaked a little when setting up the plan.

It is "active" inasmuchas the audio cues will instruct changes of pace, and advise of current pace etc.

My main frustration with the plans is that I can't upload the sessions to my Garmin in advance, I have to manually set it up.

Hiiiiii! It's good to see you and some of the other new grads.
I'm starting zen labs b210k tomorrow. I also plan to add a couple of long runs (20-30 mins) in between. Still running on the treadmill but will try to incorporate going outdoors. I have no plans to actually do a 10k but I know I need a structured plan to continue running.

@maggiek07 I hope your ankle gets better soon.

    Happy running everyone!

Hi everyone! Good to see lots of familiar faces here :)
After a couple of easy weeks, started B210k today.
@fit4life_73 I have no intentions of running a 10k either..these two weeks, I have really thought about why I started running in the first place (well, for weight loss, cardiac fitness and increasing stamina). I enjoy it, so I will continue running 2-3 days a week in addition to my strength training. Like you, I love a structured plan, so am using B210k. I intend to take things slowly now and run each week twice to evaluate my progress as I go forward!

Hi recent C25K grads!! I finished C25K last week and started my 10K trainer today. I posted in the other thread so won't repeat here, but just wanted to say hello! I'm looking forward to having folks to touch base with who are also working this training program :)

Hi everybody! I used the RunDouble C25k app (distance version), then moved right into the 5to10K distance version of the same app. Since finishing that, I've run a number 5 and 10k's and a half marathon. I'm still using RunDouble app (there are fun run and interval options too) but I also use Strava. I consider myself a cyclist who just happens to run.

Make sure you find the daily check in thread in this group and share run reports with us!
