New to 5:2 Advice?

Hi everyone! I started 5:2 fasting this week and today is my second fast day. It's good so far. I'm planning on an egg white omelet with veggies for diner.

I'm looking for advice on what to eat on fast days. Do you have real meals or just one regular size meal? I'm trying to keep regular eating patterns (time wise), but just make them less calorie dense. I don't think I could go all day just eating once.

Thanks!

You need to try different things and see what fits for you. I skip breakfast on fd and eat a 150-200 cal lunch and a 300-350 cal dinner. I stick with veggies and lean protein. Grain carbs make me too hungry.

Try different approaches and see what fits you best. I've found that I've become more in tune with my body needs and that each FD is different. If I don't get in adequate calories the day before a FD I get really hungry on FD. I carry a protein drink with me (160 calories) and drink it if I get really hungry, then have a 340 cal dinner. I just make sure that I have something with me that I can eat/drink to get me over a hump if I run into one. Also I make sure I get plenty to drink on FDs. If I don't, I find I get hungrier. Good luck!

I haven't started yet, still making a plan. The intention is to only consume homemade vegetable soup on fast days. This weekend I will make a big batch using vegetarian vegetable soup broth and add lots of fresh vegetables. I will then freeze portion sized containers to carry in my lunch.

I can heat a container in the microwave at work several times a day. Homemade vegetarian vegetable soup is extremely low calorie. I like it and have found it to be very filling in the past.

I am not trying to lose weight but hope to achieve other health benefits.
