I reached my goal weight of 129 lbs on May 31.

I have done well since then by losing 3 and 1/2 more pounds. Down to 125.5.

But my dear dad passed away this past Sunday and was buried today. I had done so good while he was in the hospital but the last few days with all the food everyone has brought I have not done very good at all.

I will weigh in the morning and let you all know the results. I guess it is only human to lose a little control under the circumstances. My husband, grown son and I are going to the mountains tomorrow for some get-a-way time and some hiking. So hopefully back on program and not much damage done.

Would love to hear from others who have reached their goal or are close to it.

@mxmakm and @Sandcastles61 - thank you much for thinking of us.

It is going to be very difficult without him. He was a wonderful man and father and you think you will always have your parents.

He lived in his home for 60 years and was a collector and keeper of everything. Clearing out his home is going to be very emotional.

Thank you all do much for your thoughts and kind words.

It has been a very stressful 10 weeks but I have a wonderful and supportive family and we will get through this. We are going to miss him terribly but he would want us to pick up and enjoy our grands and not grieve for him. That is impossible to do but each day should bring more healing.

Just got back from 8 days at the Outer Banks of NC. Wonderful vacation. Only gained 1 lb!!! Still 2 lbs below goal weight.

I got in my 10,000 steps each day by walking on beach and playing with my two grandsons ages 2 and 4. We had a wonderful time. So sorry it flew by way too fast.

    Now back to reality! :'(

    @Angelfire365 and
for the condolences. It is really difficult when you don't have parents anymore. If you still have yours, love them lots because time really does fly.

I did treasure my beach vacation with my son and his two boys last week. I loved every minute of it. Making memories!!!

Got back to calorie counting Sunday and doing well. Hope to have the 2 lbs gained off in a day or two.

Thank you Janice. The week away with my family really helped.

I did gain a couple of lbs while away but today I am back down. The fried shrimp was so worth it!!! Don't have that often anymore.

Vicky-Shrimp sounds good, I love seafood, Esther was talking about all the crab she had, I need some seafood soon, I dont have it hardly ever, unless its fish. We have a great seafood place not to far away, their fish is really good, I have never got their crab. All this food talk has made me hungry, unless I was hungry already and talking about food made it worse. Ha, ha. Gotta go Janice

Sorry Janice. I live in the salmon capital of the world. We hardly ever have crab. It is way to expensive. We usually only get it once a year. This year I got it twice already!!!! But we have salmon quite often. In fact just last weekend the Good Fishing Fairy dropped 3salmon on my doorstep. I'm hoping it won't rain tonight. I want to bbq some salmon for dinner tonight.

Esther-Thats great you have people drop off salmon, I have never heard of barbecue salmon, that sounds interesting, I love barbecueing. The only salmon I have ever had is the canned that was made into salmon croquettes, when I was young. Soon I need to try fresh salmon. Does it tastes real fishy or strong, I like mild fish, not a fan of catfish, too fishy. Janice

King salmon and sockeye salmon are the best but I am not a fish snob. The humpy (pink salmon) is the fishiest but still great. I just throw them on the bbq grill meat side down with a little salt and pepper on my fish. After about 5 minutes I flip it over and finish cooking with the skin on the grill so the skin can stick and not the meat. A little dull is really good on salmon too. So is Rosemary. Italian seasoning also tastes good. I just like the charcoal flavor on my fish.

Still maintaining after 2 months. Have actually lost another 4 lbs. I think I am exactly where I need to be weight-wise. Now to not get off track and gain any back.

I think maintaining is harder than losing. Obviously because I have lost only to gain these same 35 lbs over and over.

But I have never had MFP and such great support before.

Thanks to all of you for being so supportive. And good luck staying focused on our Thanksgiving Challenge.

You are doing great Vicky! I totally agree, losing is easier than maintaining. I have gained and lost so many times also.

I am right there with you Vicki and Evelyn <3. I have lost those same pounds more times than I care to remember. My biggest fallacy was always thinking I "got" it then the slow weight creep occurs and I would get comfy with the new numbers. When it happens slowly over years it seems easier to justify the weight gains. This time it is gone for good!! I plan to have to log daily and weigh in consistently, for the rest of my life if I have to, while being mindful of the exercise quotient. I really believe right now I will just have to!!! Tami

    Agree!

You just described my last time exactly. I thought i learned so much and would truly be able to keep it off. Then i let "life" get in my way. You know what. that was an excuse.... Life is life and i need to exercise and watch my eating because that is life too!
    Let's live it !!!

    B) What I know about maintaining is that I am doing exactly the same thing I did when I was losing except that I don't log food and exercise once or twice a month.....there are foods that I never eat and a few foods that I eat only in a restaurant or at a special event. This is a new life for me and I intend to remain this way and not return to the old life.

    Been maintaining since May 31.

Today - 125 which is 4 lbs under my goal.

MFP is still helping me maintain. I guess if I don't want to gain back the weight, I am going to have to always log my food.

That should not be too much to do to be able to stay healthy and fit, should it?
