What is your self talk when you want to reach for a piece of banana bread? (or whatever invites you to eat it)

Will this banana bread make me truly happy? (for about 5 minutes and then no) How will i feel after finishing the banana bread? (guilty) Would i rather see the scale go down tomorrow, or eat this cake? (scale go down). If i could choose to eat cake or have a fit, attractive body, which would i choose? (fit body). Is eating cake going to benefit me in ANY way? (no). Is NOT eating cake going to benefit me in any way? (yes). What effects will eating this cake have on me (scale possibly going up, even if just water weight, and carb cravings re-ignited)

If i really, reeeeeeally crave something carb-heavy (which is very rare since i stopped cheat days) i will try to find a keto-alternative. Theres a keto-ized version of pretty much every treat out there. Sure, you have to whip out your apron and bake it yourself, but if its something youve just *got* to have its worth substituting a keto version, because even if it sends your calories slightly over it wont screw your carb allowance up too badly.

I find the longer i stay away from carby treats the less intense & frequent my cravings are. Its definitely worth trying to avoid if possible.

I have a protein shake with HWC most nights for my 'dessert' and this gives me that yummy sweet, creamy taste of a pudding, whilst helping my macros. I dont feel deprived anymore so non-keto cheats arent desirous to me/

Good question. My usual mindset is simply "not an option." I just exclude most stuff like that automatically.

For some things, like grapes, chocolate, etc., I'll do a quick mental calculation on the carb load, consume a measured serving, and feel satisfied.

Banana bread would fall in the "not an option" category, but if it had chocolate chips in it, I might pick those out and eat them. :)

So, in terms of advice, it's mostly about habit formation. Once you've successfully made it a habit, you may find that you have enough self-control for minor indulgences. If you indulge before the habit is established, you're sabotaging the habit formation process -- that's why a lot of people find that simply going cold turkey helps.

So if you're still tempted, it's not a habit yet. The first word to pop into your head should be something like "Danger!" or "Poison!" Or distract yourself with exercise: "Run!" Or find an alternative treat: "Bacon!" :)
