My own July Experiment

My wife and I are spending most of a week in a cabin on an island in a lake in the Adirondacks, the huge State Forest in the middle of New York state along with our son, his wife, two grandsons, a granddaughter and granddaughter's friend. The cabin is about 40 feet from the lake vertically. Yesterday my Fitbit recorded 39 flights of stairs. Does it count as a flight of stairs if it's part wooden stairway built up a hillside and part very steep trail held together by tree roots while carrying a cooler?

Some parts of camping have changed. The first hour or so of the morning was spent web surfing sipping coffee with coconut oil while my grandson's watched Netflix and we waited for others to wake. Parts haven't changed. Last night my 4 year old grandson caught his first fish. He is still happy about it this morning.

Oh yes, the experiment part. For the past six weeks or so my weight has been stable, cycling in a 2-3 pound range. That's fine because I'm where I want to be. I think it's because my body is down to a size which matches what I eat. It will be interesting to learn if I still maintain when I have no access to a scale and do not control the menu choices.

Vacations are still my downfall. It's the combination of mindless eating during travel, social eating, and the offer of free snacks at resorts. Hiking up and down a hillside 39 times should help, though. :)
