    @KETOGENICGURL, can you explain what you mean by fat metabolism at 5-15% after one hour endurance workout? I googled that for an explanation and ended up on body building sites. Thanks!! I'm still trying to learn.

    Jenny… I WISH drs Volek & Phinney had given the source for their report in their book "Art & Science of Low Carb..on page 40 that produced this info..

    and so I am repeating exactly as they say it…

    apparently over stressing when obese is like a 'starvation mode' behavior of the body to stop losing essential fat stores while in a negative situation..possibly for the obese the body reads this excess energy expenditure
    ( running from lions for a long time!) as a reason to slow metabolism so you don't die when food isn't available.

    I keep being amazed at how much our "modern" mentality of dieting- all logical and intense, and assume our bodies will go along. there is NO other explanation why it won't do what you expect….because we have been over trained to believe in the bunsen burner theory..burn fuel, lose weight, and yet all the many complex systems of our bodies DO what they NEED to do..against our wishes.

    you just have to look at the many oddball affects on humans- super aging in children, super growth to giangantism, always hungry- lacking elements to control regulation nutrition..is it any wonder we cntesily control weight loss?

    SInce removing CARBS is the one thing that appears to be working for many, this diet may be the one area we have some control. NOT over exercising, not starving ourselves, etc.
