So I am on the last two weeks of Insanity and although i am so excited to actually finish the program I am going to be sad because i really really enjoy it. I would like to do it again, however I think after this round is done I am going to work on strength training as cardio isn't doing anything for me. Don't get me wrong, Insanity has done alot for me which i will get into shortly but i have this spare tire that just won't go away and no amount of cardio or counting calories seems to work so i think my body wants me to take a different route. I am also looking at maybe doing Les Mills Pump or doing my Jillian dvds and weight lifting.

So here are the changes that I have seen since doing Insanity:

1) I can actually do military pushups now....before i could barely do 3 kneedown pushups, now i can do at least 16 pushups in row.
2) I can do bicep curls with my 40 lbs son, i would have never dreamed before that i would ever be able to lift that much
3) My stamina for exercise has increased 10 fold, i can run with my kids and sometimes can even outlast them
4) My squats are awesome and i actually have a different shaped booty (for the better)
5) I can fit in pants that i haven't worn since I was a full-time runner and that was over 5 years ago
6) I can hold plank "properly" like there is no tomorrow, believe me when you do it properly you know because your butt feels it too lol
7) I have very little back pain. I have scoliosis and degenerating disks and would daily have to lie on the floor for an hour or so to ease pain in my lower back......i have the usual getting old aches and pains now. I no longer have to lie on the floor to ease back pain.

Struggles for me include:
1) the food thing.....always wondering if i am eating enough. I originally calculated 1786 as my cal intake to lose with the Insanity calculations and I just felt that was way too much and gained almost instantly so i knocked it down to 1500 but now that there is 2 weeks left i have decided that i am going to try the 1700 cals but those extra 200 cals are going to be all protein as that is also a huge issue for me
2) deciding whether i want to do Insanity again or not....i absolutely love this workout and believe it is my soulmate workout.
3) Water intake

My goals include:
1) increasing cals and protein to see if it makes a difference, every calculator i have done comes out with 1700 and some cals so this could explain why i cannot lose anything and why some days i just don't have the energy
2) Figuring out my next program
3) Just trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle

So now you tell me....what about you? What changes have you seen so far? What struggles have you had? What goals do you have in the next 2 weeks or for however long?

I will review Insanity properly when I ave done the first run through, and I think, if you guys are up for it, we should all post a before and after photo. Without heads or any identifying markers - I certainly wont have my face on these boards! But perhaps that will help us see what we've achieved.

    Changes:
    I am so much stronger
I ran 8km without any running for 6 month previously - and I had no problems with energy, leg exhaustion or my asthma
My breathing is AWESOME! I sing in a barbershop chorus in England and the hobby takes over mine and fiance's life, we love it!
I CAN do low to high plank transitions, just slowly with many breaks!

    Struggles:
1.I still have little arm strength
2.I cant see much change in my inches - I'll edit this if neccessary at the end of week 9!
3.I am absolutely knackered. This is because when work and home life were easy, Insanity fit in well, but as I've been practising/coaching/rehearsing every evening after work and at weekends for 3 weeks straight, I am so tired and not giving the three aspects my everything which I did in Month 1.

    Goal:
To repeat Insanity and keep getting fitter
Lower BF through eating better, more when I want to, less when I want to
    Increase arm strength in particular
Check for bottom shapin' from all those squats!
Enjoy a weekend off with Mr Fiance, who is awesome....okay, this isnt Insanity related, more mind fitness!

I HAVE had great support from you BBM in particular but everyone else on these boards has been great and feeling like part of a team is very encouraging to not skip a workout, or slack one day and eventually it all slides!
  • I like this discussion, and will definitly jump in.

    Changes
    - my BODY IS FINALLY CHANGING. After a long two years of no success, being down on myself and trying to understand my body, I have finally gotten there.
-No longer want near as much JUNK food. I actually feel SICK when I eat it.
    -Shakeology has helped a lot
    -loosing inches :)
-Gained confidence, and some personal motivation.

    Struggles
-Not getting good enough sleeps yet
-possibly not eating enough. Good use some more water during the day as well
-Still eating dairy and gluten. Which i have pretty big intolerances too.. but I still eat them :S

    Goals
-To continue this change in my life
    -Eat healthier
-Master my anxiety and sleep better!
-To find a new workout program! :D

    LOVING IT ALL!

How interesting, we three have all had problems with not eating enough probably - getting over the hump of thinking about how much you enjoy good healthy food helps so much.

We've all seen massive improvements in our fitness, and we can acheive loads more, that's great!

It's very interesting. I think as humans we just have instilled in our minds that in order to lose weight we need to eat less but we've come so far in that thinking....its hard to accept at times for me lol but i'm getting better.

I stepped on the scale this morning and had a legitimate loss finally!! I am not sure what happened because i haven't changed anything. Now that i just upped my cals, i am rethinking but i think i am just going to continue upping my cals with the protein..

It also makes me wonder if i should give Insanity one more round now that i am actually seeing the scale results but i just don't know.

We are doing so well, we totally rock! We will achieve so much more because we have remained committed.

I think as Westerners we have the eat less=lose weight instilled, it's a rather societal thing...but....look at us educating ourselves.

I'm so pleased about the weightloss - I'm hoping for similar and inches, mostly. Although my legs measure the same, they actually look a different shape, less wobblesome. Or maybe they're not, and I just like them more because I know how much stronger they are?!

I'm actually dreading Insanity without such a great support group - if you guys do choose to do it again, let me know!

I know what you mean on inches, i have lost a total of 4 since starting but that was the first week. I seem to be gaining inches...which i suppose i'm okay with because i know its because i'm getting stronger. My calves look bigger, my biceps look bigger my forearms look bigger these are all places i didn't have alot of muscle.

I can't wait to see our progress after we are done, we are gonna have a more shapely figure :)

I am seriously thinking about doing Insanity again because i just love the workout, and Shaun T is very good motivating eye candy! I want a body like Tania's or Ariel's! If i do it again, I will surely let you know. :)

I will support you even if i don't do it again. I can live through you :)

Ariel is such a poppet, I think she looks like a really quiet person who has a secret amazing fitness level! I read a lot into how people speak, I know :P

I want to thwack the eejit that calls out 'burn baby burn' in the blue top, and the beatboy who spins and almost kicks Ariel when he gets up. I want to shout at him for almost kicking her every time!

Did you take photos before Insanity began? I'd love to see your new shapes too - we can do an exchange, and see how it went. It doesnt matter if it's teeny, like in my case, because it's SOMETHING! And by the way, your support rocks :)

I like Ariel she does seem very quiet. And yeah my husband and i want to yell at him everytime he does that too. The guy in the blue shirt....is that the bandana guy with the blue shirt? Or is it the one with the dark blue shirt.

Yep I did before Insanity pics, and after Month 1 and will be doing month 2 pics as well and wouldn't mind sharing. I watch transformations all the time on youtube because they are so fascinating and i hope that i too will see alot of change. I know internally i have changed drastically and that is very important for continuing on this journey, the physical changes are a big bonus too :)
