Avocado is a neat food that I don't quite understand how it seems to have carbs and lots of fat

    But my body loves it!

Who says you have to understand love.....

Tooootally agree with : Milk, Brussels Sprouts, Kale, Broccoli, Cashews, plus..... berries, yogurt, cottage cheese, coconut water, some brands of sausages/burgers (although other brands can be surprisingly great on the carbs), some salad dressings, English pickles (they add lots of sugar and vinegar to pickle juice, rather than salt water & a bit of vinegar like US), onions, some spices/seasonings... Pretty much everything is higher carb than I ever realised.

brussels sprouts!!!! and I love them

I haven't braved them since I started this WOE but I love them. Someone posted a recipe for them with butter, cheese, and soy sauce. How bad are they? :(

Soy sauce is 3 grams of carbs per 1 tbsp. Nooooo. Rip off.

That depends on the brand, really. Tamari soy sauce is gluten free, and I think is 1 gram per TBSP. From what I understand, coconut aminos are a decent substitute, but I haven't found them locally to give a trial run.

For me it was artichoke hearts. 4 pieces of the quartered ones are about 5 net carbs. Wouldn't have thought that. While to many it doesn't seem like that much, I stick to about 20 carbs a day, so that's 1/4 of my daily allotment.

Black beans. I'm really surprised how little they impact my blood sugar and ketosis. They are a slow carb so they are digested in the lower intestine which makes a lot of food I gave up accessible to me again. I have to go easy with them, but after a year of low carbing it I'm learning all carbs are not created equal. Just watching how my body handles them. Could be cause I'm keto adapted tho, too.

They aren't too bad cause they are high in fiber. Drown them in bearnaise sauce. SERIOUS YUM.

I love them too. I used to roast them in olive oil and garlic. I like the Bearnaise sauce suggestion. I just looked it up as well as Hollandaise. I can't wait to make them to pour on everything!

Generally speaking they don't fit too many folks' goals here. I'm okay with going a little higher on carbs than most folks in these forums, but still usually try not to go over 40 Net per day. I refuse to give up veggies due to carb count.

100 g of boiled brussels sprouts is 7 carbs - 3 fiber = 4 net carbs. And as you know, 100 g of brussels isn't a whole lot.

It is so good! I make it with heavy cream. Lots of fat. Bearnaise on asparagus with a fat steak = my favorite dinner. It's even good on ham which I thought was kinda weird, but yummy!

Imitation Crab meat. And I was so looking forward to eating it regularly....

My understanding is that is is fairly accurate of about half the seafood out there, period, real or imitation.

Same here on loving the imitation Crab meat. I got nailed on fried shrimp dinner from Captain D's night before last. I wound up standing and talking for two hours in a parking lot (something I could not have physically done 12 months ago) and my feet and ankles were swollen as in pre LCHF days. Yesterday I decided to blow on my $15 breath analyzer (it does detect acetone) and was blowing a ZERO even with new batteries.

Then I did the math from info off Captain's D web site. That meal (lots of sour cream) plus carbs from other meals put me well over 100 grams. I did not feel really swift yesterday but not totally bad either. This morning I blew a .030 so I am recovering. With that meter blowing a .05 will have me being in a good ketone range when I check them by blood.

I was out of ketosis about 36-40 hours.

My swelling feet had me looking for a reason and was glad when I found the cause. CARBS still hate me because I abused them for 40 years. :(

For those new to very low carbing I want you to know I have no craving to eat another meal like that one that got my feet to swelling. The weight gain of only 2 pounds was of concern because I have my annual and a life insurance exam next week. Weight can impact premium $$$. That AM I was back to what I weighed three days ago.

I love the little experiments like this and what we all figure out... Congrats on figuring it out quickly and for getting back to your goal of the premium cut-off!
