Just curious how many net carbs everyone does and still getting results?
I have been doing keto for about 2 years but keep falling off the wagon and gaining. I started at 245 and my lowest on Keto was 167. Im now 190....:( I want to do something a little less strict. So I'm gonna try doing a basic low-carb.

Probably 60 or so normally, more if I am working out really hard, up to 1000
-
35, up to 50 if I'm really tired/hungry0
-
Net carbs are usually between 20 and 35. Except yesterday i was over 140 (oops!!)0
-
I tend to be under 50.0
-
I've only been at this for a little over two months, but for what it's worth, I'm averaging 50-60 gross carbs per day and 10-15 grams fiber, with spikes up to 20g fiber on higher-carb days. So, roughly 35-40g net carbs.0
-
I don't do net carbs. Carbs usually < 10g.0
-
Around 26. 5% of 1650 cal0
-
I'll get kicked out of the group for admitting that my goal is 118g total carbs per MFP's calculation based on 35% of my daily intake as carbs.
I'm lower, not low, carbs. Seems to work for me.0 -
@mwyvr no you're still welcome
I am anywhere from 20 - 100g a day. I'd like to stay around 80 - 100 but I can't figure out how to average there without just eating ice cream at night to get there.0 -

Congrats on the long-term loss!
For weight loss, you don't need extreme carb restrictions. Something like the New Atkins approach is a good one, IMO. Strong ketosis for the first few weeks (20-50g), and then mild ketosis after that (up to 100g or so).
I'm still losing weight with carbs around 100g and no calorie counting -- i.e., my hunger is still suppressed enough that I naturally eat at deficit levels.
I'm always curious about how people fall off the wagon. Any insights about how it happened?

This sounds very reasonable to me and is basically what I'm doing, with ~700 calories burned by exercise 5 to 7 days a week with the occasional long run ripping through double that.
For the first two thirds of my loss I was losing 1kg (2.2 pounds) a week; as I get nearer the end I am finding the loss slowing... no doubt partly because I am giving myself more leeway not just because the goal is in sight but also because my activity level is an order of magnitude higher now than it was for the first two thirds of my weight loss. Still the weight loss averages out to 0.75kg / 1.6 pounds a week.
Honestly... I could not say it was difficult. I just needed to decide upon a reasonable plan and get going. For me making exercise core to my life again was pretty key as I find it both fun and very motivating in and of itself.
I do remain convinced that a lower-carb diet has delivered health benefits to me though.
edit: Two meals down and I'm at 49g; it'd be far less if I could reliably find a 5% Greek yogurt that I like and skip the vanilla flavoured Greek, or I might just stick with 2% Green plain and be done with it and save a bunch of grams each day.0 -
I'm only in my second week, but my total carb goal is 70 grams (starting at 356lbs) and my net carbs so far have been averaging between 40-70.0

I do 20 net carbs, thinking about counting total carbs soon.....0

I don't do net carbs either. My total carbs are always below 20g. My calories are varying a lot more lately (since I started lifting weights again, 5-6 nights a week for an hr, I find I need more energy, which seems to vary day to day more than before I started working out again) but no matter how many cals I have (up to my sedentary TDEE max, ie maintenance cals without exercise cals added) I always stay below the 20g total carbs.
I'm starting to see the scale go down again after a little stall at a 450 cal deficit but no exercise. Since upping cals slightly and working out with weights: Total body weight slowly reducing, muscle mass increasing & body fat percentage on the decline. It's slower than I'd like, and still a way to go, but trends are all good now. I think if I could limit my calories a little more and still have energy to train I might lose weight/fat quicker, but it's a fine line between that and consuming enough energy to train hard most nights. Plus I want to squeeze out as much newby(ish) muscle gains as poss, which may need a slightly smaller deficit to maximise on? (I thunk)..
Oops, sorry, rambling! X

Not at all. You can bet your bippy that I would eat more carbs if my blood sugar could handle it. Berries...sweet potato with loads of butter...berries again. You get the idea.
I have my total carbs set at 45 grams per day, however I net around 20-25 grams max. Occasionally, I am higher at 30 grams and other days lower at 10 grams, but 20-25 grams is the average.

Same here @mwyvr - I'm battling painful water retention and don't want to take a diueretic again.
@tabathavm - I had a lot of ups and downs too when I started eating Atkins in 2009. I would reward myself for weight loss goals with carbs-filled meals. I think it helps me to consistently eat low-carb but to change the macros every so often and throw in a few days of fasting. I know it is tiring to keep losing the same weight over and over. I thought once I achieved my goal in 2010 that I would be able to control weight gain better but I gained 70 lbs back. I am halfway through that again this year. Let us know how that increase in carbs works for you!0 -
My total carbs are in the 70-110 range, so net is about 40-90. I'm able to maintain ~4-5 lb loss per month at this level. When my loss stalls out, I may try to lower my carbs further.0
-
I set my macros at 50, but try to stay around 300
-
I just increased my carb limit to 36, figuring it will probably end up at 30g net carbs or less.0
-
20-30g, most days under 20 though.0
-
I'm usually well under 20g net, and this is my 5th week.0

Honestly mine happens for 2 main reasons.
1. If we go out of town and have to stay over or longer than expected. We usually grab fast food or something quick and cheap. I end up cheating..
2. If I get behind on my daily scheduled or something interrupts it I eat junk just for convince.
The problem with it is, once I cheat I have a hard time stopping. I think also, because I was doing strict keto i felt deprived that I couldnt eat like 1/2 an apple, or beans/peas or other foods that i like0 -
I do total carbs. Mine are set at 15, but I am usually under 10.0
-
I eat 50-100 but I burn off lots of calories on exercise so they are smoke0

I avg 30 a day. I shoot for no more than ten a meal. Been a little high lately due to cabbage juice concoction I have to take for gastritis, but it's a limited time thing (30 days). Supposed to help heal the tummy lining.0 -

Same here. Blood sugar (diabetic off meds) is the main goal for me. Weight loss is a nice benefit (down 40#) as is increased energy.0 -
I aim for 85, but as long as it is under 100 I am reasonably satisfied. I want to take it lower though and give keto a try...but I need to be ready to be consistent.0

Well, I have my macros set to 45 total with a fiber goal of 25 which would give me a net of 20. Some days I get there.
Most days I net a total, after fiber deduction (I never deduct sugar alcohols because I want to discourage myself from eating them and the processed food they are in) of around 40 carbs. Keeps me in med/heavy to heavy ketosis. Usually lose a pound or two a week, but last week I lost five! Booyah! I don't exercise hardcore, but I take strolls after dinner to help lower my blood sugar.0
