Help me be mindful of my eating

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help you be mindful when you are about to eat. I have the issue of forgetting to think about the badness of a food before I indulge. Like yesterday I did not even think and went and got a blizzard that I did not really want but I grabbed it without a second thought.

Suggestions are all welcome

Hi: Do you have a goal you are working towards? I have like a list 1: to be the thin mom at my daughters wedding. No the wedding has not been announced but I'm not the thin mom either. LOL. 2: There is this bathing suit I would really like that requires smaller boobs and booty. 3: I don't want to be part of the fat group at work. I have a list of things so when I go to reach for something something pops in my head the second thing I do is everything has to go in the food tracker before I can think of consuming it. Then I think OY this leaves me no room for dinner. A lot of times I will sit in a parking lot and decide just what I can have and then go in and get it. I always have a back up good snack just in case that way I don't get side tracked If I have enough protein in my diet I don't stray too often. Good Luck!!! :)

My way of being mindful of how I was eating was when I first started I ate everything I normally would and logged it not caring if I went over. I did this for a few weeks and it was shocking how quickly things added up. Which was insane and helped put me in the mindset to watch what I ate and portion sizes.

Portions were my biggest issue. I also learned that if I was in the mood for something I could easily pick a healthier alternative. Like if I wanted something chocolate I would try and keep a chocolate meal shake in my desk since its only 140 calories and 15g of protein. If I didn't have a healthier option then I would go with the smallest size offered and try only having a little of it to satisfy my craving.

Thanks those are good suggestion. I will pre-log. I used to do that last year and it worked wonders. My goal is just to eat healthier and I nned to think of that while I am eating crap.

I plan my meals, I do not go to places I cannot eat or that will tempt me into eating stupidly. I also try not to eat when stressed out. you may want to log what you were doing when you grabbed that blizzard.

    How's the prelogging going, shanteel?

What works for me, although I got away from it (and am finally back on track) is trying to eat only at planned times and if tempted to eat at some other time I force myself to log it in advance and write a little bit (to myself, I have a kind of journal) about why I want to. Helps me be mindful.
