Coconut Oil - How Do You Measure Yours?

So, this week, I've been curious. I don't normally weigh out my coconut oil. I just use a knife to "slice" off bits to slide into my bottle.
So, if I'd measured it in an actual measuring spoon, I would have said it was 2-3 TBSP or 30-45 ML. It weighed in at 14.5 grams, which my container says is 1 TBSP. It was the standard room temperature solid state it has always been an since I started using coconut oil, so no change there...
So how do you measure yours? By spoon? By weight? By volume? Solid? Melted? How the heck can I figure out what's right and wrong on this??

I use a measuring spoon and scrape it out of a jar and pack it lightly into the spoon. I eat it off the spoon so it's the easiesr way for me. In summer it will be runny so I guess I will just pour into the spoon?0

I use a tablespoon. It's been liquid for weeks, but if it ever gets solid again, I still use the tablespoon, but I don't level it off.0

I do it by weight, gram to be specific. I put my jar on the scale, tare, then use a knife or spoon to extract until I am at the amount I want. Room temp solid state.

I do it by scale, same as nicsflyingcircus.0

But why such the difference? It would have been 2 TBSP, but it weighed at 14 grams. I'm so confused!0

I do melted by volume. For small amounts I mostly just guess.0

I do it by weight the same way as nicsflying circus.0

I don't suppose it matters all that much HOW you do it, just pick one and stick to it. I don't weigh mine as I don't feel like the fuss. Plus I eat mine around 5am and my kitchen scales don't work well in the cold.
Also my jar has measuments in ml and not grams anyway. No point in me weighing it I suppose? I just did and my rough 20ml (1 tablespoon here) was 16g.
Weird that your volume and weight are so off?0 -
I do mine by volume, one level tbsp if it's liquid, one slightly bumpy tbsp if it's solid. I probably should weigh it like nicsflyingcircus, but just got my scale today so haven't had a chance to play yet.0

I measure it by liquid TBSP's or ml's, but I use liquid MCT oil more often than regular coconut oil which is solid here in winter, liquid in summer. I do weigh my butter in grams however, since it's harder to estimate a Tbsp when slicing a slab of butter I find.0

I use a measuring spoon and level it off on the top. Or I just eyeball it, which I know is completely imprecise.0

I always weighed mine. But, I always weighed everything except things that only have liquid measurements. Actually, I would often weigh the ones with liquid measurements, if I knew the density or it was a small enough amount that the density wouldn't effect the outcome by much. I just liked using my scale. LOL0

I always weigh mine-except, I almost exclusively use it for BPC pre-measured fat bombs so i make batches, freeze in ice cube trays. Those arent measured individually but I am the only one who eats (drinks) them so it'll all even out in the end.
If, in the rare event I use it for something else, I guess.0 -
I weigh EVERYTHING. I'm less likely to cheat that way.0

I use a little "cookie scoop" that measures about a tablespoon. On days when the coconut oil is soft, but not liquid, I scoop out a bunch of balls onto some parchment paper, stick it in the fridge to solidify, and store them in a container in the fridge. It's easy to pull out a serving quickly then.0

Great time saver for morning BPC!!!0 -
Plastic teaspoon I have been keeping alive to stir my coffee for 6 months
I lick it clean and all it good

would have thought that if you're following the lchf it isn't necessary to be that accurate anyway. Peanut butter is best weighed before you take any out though wink:0

It isn't necessary. I was just curious really. and it was the fact that things were SO different that made me ask!0
