How to do HIIT while doing C25K/B210K

Just had my induction at the gym and the trainer said that I should incorporate HIIT in my running as it will help my lung capacity and improve my overall running.

Anyone else do this and can shed light on where and how to add this into the C25K programme?

Get another trainer.
HIIT is fashionable, but of limited utility to most people.
Proper HIIT, which isn't what most people are talking about, does have some potential to improve high end performance. It needs an aerobic base to build upon, and until you're running for a good hour at a time you don't have the base to build from.0
