I do not have joint problems. But...

I visited my chiropractor for a routine adjustment. Then started... umm... bragging about my numbers. See, when i started visiting her years ago, i was out of shape, lazy, and sore... years later, of course, this has changed, so i keep her up to date on what i am doing.
So i know my numbers are nothing special compared to some of you awesome beasts, but i figured she would be impressed! Instead the first thing she said was (paraphrasing) "be careful, you don't want to get bad joints!" And i thought... bad joints? From lifting??
I know you can mess up your joints with bad form, but that should be repairable with corrected form, ice, therapies, etc. But it sounded like she meant long-term damage to the joints.
Has anyone ever heard/read anything reputable about negative long-term effects of lifting on the joints?
Thanks!
TG

I've read about extreme powerlifters having issues as they get older, but not average-Joe's.0
