What's the best thing with weight lifting?

Just wondering if lighter weights more reps better than heavier weights and less reps?.
I'm guessing it's if you want to tone more muscle or burn more fat?.
Advice would be great.

    heavier weights less reps. for burn, for strength

    Heavy weights with low reps! Especially if you have a lot to lose like me. More calories burned and more muscles develop for an even bigger calorie burn!

    Low weights with high reps if you've lost all the body fat you need to lose and just want to tone up.

    Heavier weights, lower reps. There's no such thing as "toning."
