ok, so let's put aside the facts of what they are and how processed they are (purists), we are real low on cash this week. I was thrilled to find Oscar Meyer beef dogs on sale for a buck a pkg yesterday. Grabbed ten. Got to checkout and found out they were 3.69 each and had been mismarked (yes, I got them for $1 each after twenty minutes of arguing).
So. In need of some creative dinners. Hotdog dinner ideas?

Unfortunately, not from me. I would just fry them in fat and eat the whole bag if I could. Maybe bacon-wrapped?0

I just got a lot of ideas on Pinterest. Besides using them as "crust" for pizza, adding to low carb chili, making pigs in blankets with fathead dough, making into muffins with low carb "muffin" (almond meal", some kind of cool idea of skewering them, spiral slicing them, and smoking them! I gotta say I love Pinterest!!0

Slice them up and put in a stir fry.0

Cut them almost all of the way through lengthwise, lay flat on a cookie sheet flat side down, spread some low carb BBQ sauce on them, sprinkle with shredded cheddar and broil them until bubbly. If your carb count allows it, before you put the cheddar on, sprinkle some finely chopped onion. Yummmmmm.0

Thanks all. Got a low carb chili going in the crock pot. Going to fry a bunch up and add them to the chili for dinner.0

I love the skinless hotdog sausages. Wrap them in bacon
Or just make a casserole with them, use them where you'd use cubed meat. They actually have a really nice flavour when cooked in a sauce.

Good idea. I think I'm going to use them as a kielbasa substitute in my kielbasa cabbage skillet and see how they do. May just have to add more garlic.

Are hotdogs super processed precooked sausages? Here a hotdog is that and in a bun with mustard or on a stick and deep fried in batter. Aren't they usually high carb and full of cereal?
Devilled sausages is always something I used to love but no idea about a low carb version. My mum used to also semi-split precooked sausages, fill the split with cheese and bake them. I have some yummy spicey pork sausages that I plan to cook first then do the cheese thing with for dinner.0 -

Depends on the hotdog company. Here (US) they are usually anywhere from 1-3 carbs each but don't have cereal in them. I buy the kind that say "no fillers" tho, so that might make a difference. They are highly processed and I don't buy them often ....unless I find them on sale for almost 75% off on a week my grocery budget has already been slashed in half. Gotta do what you gotta do.
Did find a pin with that cheese idea. Looks great. Is it something like this link? I'm going to use either. Low carb sauce or mustard tho instead of sugar sauce (ketchup) http://pinterest.com/pin/A-CPiwAQQDYGBbi7WqEAAAA/

I'm all for cheap food, especially meat. Meat is stupidly expensive in New Zealand! I'd buy and eat processed food happily (and do often!). You gotta work with your budget. No idea why it costs us so much, we are surrounded by farms full of millions of sheep and cows etc. I think there are something like 50 million sheep to our 4.5 million people. I am pretty sure NZ butter is cheaper in Australia than NZ.
Funny how we call the same things different stuff though, that'd just be a sausage here :-)0 -
I try hard not to think what's in them.0
