Hello All,
I remember joining this group 3-4 years back and it was a ghost town... And now there are new posts every day... Exciting to see!
So... Me... I'm a division 1 NCAA scholarship swimmer who qualified for the Olympic Trials. 400IM, 200 Backstroke, and distance were my events. After the threat of a 2nd shoulder surgery in my senior year of college, I quit.
I competed all my life from age 5 to 20ish. Like most swimmers (don't believe the hype), I ate whatever I could stuff my face with. I rarely counted, but it was easily 6-8k calories a day. At that time, it wasn't about health, it was about eating... Anything.
So what happens to a guy like me when he stops swimming? Yup, the inner chubby dude comes out. I was on this site years ago and went from 235 to 185. I was eating right and working out. Then the little one came along and working out went out the door. Healthy eating habits going away combined with my new found love of craft beer were soon to follow.
So here I am... Husband to a hot (and fit) wife, daddy to an amazing little girl, great career, and plump at 245lbs again.
For years now, I've been friends with folks on this app who have lost over 100lbs. It really is cool to see. In the end, it's about forming good habits and being healthy.
So if you all can hold me accountable I will try to do the same and offer my swimming advice as much as possible. (I have a few workouts listed on my blog on here... If that's still on this site)
Feel free to add me as a friend/connection.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Scott

Welcome back scott. I'm one of those that has used MFP and lost over 100lbs (and im not done yet). Swimming and this forum have been a big part of my journey. But unlike you an many of the others here who have such wonderful advice I've never had any formal swim training/coaching.0

Thanks Stephen! (or do you prefer Steve?)
I've read up about you on the forum and I'm nothing short of amazed. I'm truly happy for you (and I mean that) for what you've achieved.
Losing weight and altering a lifestyle is insanely difficult and it seems you've done it in spades.
I've known I've been on a downward spiral for a year and just recently got the guts to admit to my friends on here that I'm back where I started.0 -
