Insulin Resistant

Diet and exercise. I think I've heard those two words used together before. Well, here's what I've learned. When I ignore both of those words I become insulin resistant. How resistant? With Novolog a sliding scale was around 5. I shoot 30. With Lantus I was originally told to inject 10 units. I inject 85. Yesterday I walked for 30 minutes and ate healthy foods. Last night I injected 85 units of Lantus. In the morning it's not uncommon for my BG to be in the 200's. This morning it was 56. A couple of hours after a healthy breakfast and a walk, my BG was 124 with no insulin so far today. Since Lantus is 24 hours, I see a possibility of getting off Novolog some time in the future. I still supplement insulin with 2000mg of Metformin daily. Even so, getting back to a reasonable sliding scale for Novolog will be welcome.
