Introductions!

I thought it would be fun to create an introductions board so that we can get to know everyone who's also accompanying us on this 21-day-fix journey!

My name is Rachel. I'm 23 years old and a furmommy to two dogs (Doberman Pinscher and Golden Retriever) as well as two black kitties! I also have a chameleon :-) I'm a second-year nursing student, hoping to work my way into an anesthesia master's program once I obtain my bachelor's. I also work (fulltime now that it's summer, parttime during the school year) as a healthcare documentation specialist, which requires me to be sitting at a desk for ~8 hour shifts :-/ I feel so drained after work that it's hard to get myself geared up to exercise!

My husband is in the military and is frequently traveling (or working 12-hour days!). Between our schedules, it makes (healthy) meal planning difficult, especially during the school year! I consider myself to be a relatively healthy person...we don't drink soda in our home but very rarely, I'm a vegetarian, and I don't buy processed/prepackaged/canned foods. I do, however, have a major sweet tooth--I can't bring anything home without inhaling it ALL the same day! Our major issue has been eating out pretty regularly with a beer or two here and there, which all adds up quickly, in addition to not making the time to exercise. Additionally, I'm an emotional eater, which has been something I've struggled with since I was a child. Getting in control of food has been a big hurdle for me...I will go on little "kicks" of trying to lose weight only to binge and gain everything (and then some) back.

All in all, I really want to be a great example for my patients...after all, I'm telling them to be healthy and fit, but then I'm going to go home and eat my weight in brownies? :-P I'm starting my second week of the fix and continue to be motivated by my progress; I'm doing things I never thought I'd be capable of, and those itty bitty containers that I thought would never fill me up? They're keeping me full and happy and putting ME in control of food for a change! I have so much more energy just over the past week...it's crazy! This has truly been a life-changing experience that's transformed the way I look at nutrition! I really hope to encourage my husband to make some changes as well through my 21-day-fix progress!

Looking forward to getting to know you all! :-)

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm Jamie. I'm just now starting day 1 round 1 of this program and i'm pretty exicted. All in all i feel like i really know what i need to do but putting that to practice every day is more difficult than it sounds. I generally eat pretty healthy, home cooked whole foods. We eat out a fair amount but even then i feel like i go for the better choice, veggie burger, salad, soup, etc. I belive my problem is i'm still eating too much of a portion. This "fix" spoke to me because i dont have to measure food with cups and spoons and i dont have to count calories. Yea i know we still "measure" food in the color containers but mentaly thats much easier for me. Ive found some videos on youtube about bulk cooking lunches and dinners for the week and pre packaging snacks. I think this is very managable for me and something about the program design just makes it seem so simple. So away we go.....

@rjpittner Im so glad to hear that this has been as you said a life changing experience, that is what i need right about now. Looking forward to taking this journey together

    Good idea!

I'm 30 years old, I live in NYC, and I'm a math teacher. I have no kids and no significant other; I'm very shy, quiet, and introverted and just like to spend my alone time working out or playing video games. I have the summer off, so I chose this time to get my health in order. I've always gone between being slim and obese. I was a skinny kid until around 7, then I ballooned up. I was 9 years old and 120 pounds! Then I had a growth spurt and by 5th grade I was my final height, 5'3". In Junior High I stayed between 120 and 135 pounds, in High School I went from 120 to 160 to 140 to 190(!!) by the time I graduated. From there I knew I needed to make a permanent change.

These last 12 years I've kept my weight between 110 and 140 pounds. Whenever I see the number getting close to 140 I get scared I'm going to gain everything back and I lose weight. I struggle with issues regarding depression, confidence, and self-esteem and I wanted to fix that. I wanted to stop the yo-yo trend, stop focusing on the scale all the time, and learn how to eat better and build muscle while shedding fat. My starting weight in June was 139 pounds. So far I've lost 11 pounds and I couldn't be happier with my progress. I still have a long way to go with my goals, but when I look back and see the changes I've made in two months it's surreal for me. I feel amazing compared to the way I used to feel. I eat a mostly "clean" diet, so to speak, I found out in June that grains do not agree with my body so no traditional pizza, breads, cookies, etc. I thought it would be hard to give it all up, but my palate and body changed completely when I gave up grains and most sugar. It's so easy now knowing that all these choices have resulted in such a change. I can't wait to see where the next few months take me!

These are really good introductions! I like this much better than the generic age/sex/weight stuff. I'm Crosby. The first thing you need to know about me is I am clearly bad at thinking up screen names. :) I'm 34, single mom to an 8 year old son, he is a kitty dad to 2 cats (which makes me a grandma at my ripe old age). I'm a PA (physician assistant) at a large hospital working the night shift, so I do get to do some walking at work. I've been overweight since I was probably 8 or 9. My older brother is morbidly obese and very overweight as a child and I think I just mimicked what he ate. After my son was born, I got my weight stabilized at 160-165, which I never though was ideal and always planned on losing 20 lbs. Summer of 2010, I was a raw foodist for about 3 or 4 months. I really just wanted to try it out and see how I felt. I felt AMAZING, had the most ridiculous amount of energy!!! Lost 10 lbs. Did a 19 mile 2 day back packing trip on 90% raw foods. But that lifestyle is extremely hard to sustain and in the fall I had to buckle down to finish my senior thesis for my BS. My weight crept up almost 20 lbs by the end of the school year. I immediately started my masters program for PA. I know I was 170-175 when I started school because it was after my first semester that I joined MFP. Needless to say, 2 years of stress, not enough sleep, not enough time to cook a proper meal, not enough time to exercise led to me graduating at about 190. I thought I would spend my summer getting myself back into shape. Kayak, garden, go running.... all things I enjoyed but didn't have time for. But I was just lazy and tired instead. I started working nights and that gave me an additional 10-15 lbs of weight gain. So my weight has been bouncing between about 195 and 207 for the last 18 months. In May of this year, I did a clean eating - vegan cleanse with my mom for 2 weeks and dropped almost 10 lbs. That was the motivation I needed to keep going! I couldn't stand the thought of another summer avoiding being in pictures, avoiding being in bathing suits, and it was looking like I would need to go shopping for bigger shorts.... again. And I finally decided I needed to be able to actually catch my kid when we play tag! I've had slow but moderate success just doing things on my own. I'm not a member at a gym right now, but had started jogging again before my best friend got me excited about the 21 day fix. Love the workouts! Not feeling like I want to die today after doing the total body cardio fix yesterday, which is a huge improvement that I'm super excited about!

Love this! I always do better in a group.

My name is Randi and I am looking forward to completing this series with you all! Okay, about me: I'm from a big family but when I was a kid I was normal weight wise. Then I hit puberty. Up top I "blossomed" pretty quickly and I got the rest of the figure just as fast. When I started high school I was already a D. I was very shy and embarrassed about my shape and turned to food. My high school life was very stressful as my mom was fighting a brain tumor and again, the food brought by church families was my comfort.

My wake up call came when, after losing my mom, my oldest sister and my father in ten years, my weight was only 10 pounds from 300 land. Scary to see that on the scale! I started doing small things, like joining MFP and being more conscious of the foods I bought. I would go to the gym sporadically, charge myself 25 cents for taking the elevator instead of the stairs, things like that. But my dedication would always wax and wane and I would "celebrate" weight loss with junk food. A program through work gave me access to a personal trainer and a nutritionist and I learned new things about myself. I learned I could do 20 minutes on the elliptical, that I could go faster on the treadmill and that I LOVED Zumba. I learned that I liked healthy meals, that I enjoyed learning new recipes and that I could give up soda for water.

It's still be a slow process. This year I wanted to lose 80 pounds but I'm not anywhere NEAR where I need to be for that goal to be a success. But I'm still moving and working! I have a Wii U and am challenging myself to do at least 20 minutes of Zumba on it each day. Then a cousin sent me her before and after pictures from when she'd done the 21 Day Fix, two times, and it's amazing! She's down 30 and has lost a good amount of inches as well. I work two jobs so at-home work outs fit in my schedule better. No hassle with class times or open times, just wake up, turn on the TV and get moving.

Did the Upper Fix today on my lunch hour (overslept this morning) and my arms are feeling good. But my legs are seriously hurting from yesterday, lol. My quads burn every time I get up from my desk.

Hello my name is Evelyn and Laziness and Food are my own worst ENEMIES..... I am married and have 2 children, a 3 year old and a 7 year old who keep me busy - - - Been doing the Thrive samples these past few days, really liking it - on Sunday will be weighing it to see if it is doing anything for me. Ordered a month's supply and we will see - I know it is def working for my energy levels and I'm sure it's mind/matter for the way I'm feeling. Ordered the 21 day fix from Beachbody - it should be here either today or tomorrow to assist with portions and meal planning - I have a 55 oz water cup here at work that I am going to try to drink at least 2 times per day. I need to be more consistent so I can reach my goals. I will be 35 next month and I vow to be 40 and FINE. I've been gaining and losing the same amount of weight for years on end, and enough is enough....... I've lost a huge amount of weight before so I know I can do it. Support & Motivation needed please

Hi everyone! I enjoyed reading your intros and stories and im excited to "meet" you all! Thank you for sharing your history with why we're all here and @randilast i'm also sorry to hear about the loss of your family members. Emotions play a bit role in eating which makes the struggle that much harder. My story is a pretty common one. When i was young i relied on my fast metabolism. My 20's brought forth some extra weight but i manged to keep it under control with portion control via WW and cutting back on certain things. I had my daughter at 27 and manged to loose most of the pregnancy weight. Right now i'm classified as "overweight". Im 5'2" 150. I need to lose about 20 in order to get to that healthy BMI. We shall see. Im on day 2 here and still feeling pretty good. We got this!!

Hi all! I'm a single mom to a wonderful 11 year old son and work in the legal field. I'm starting the 21 day fix tomorrow to help drop some pounds before vacation and my 40th birthday. Last year I was in the best shape of my life but broke my tailbone (twice!) and had some issues with kidney stones. Before I knew what happened...I've gained 20 pounds :( Hoping to get my eating back under control and back to working out. I will not be using her video's because I have others that I like along with hitting the gym/running with friends. Glad to have found this group for motivation!

Hello, my name is Jennifer, I just turned 51 this summer and I live in NW Oregon. I will be getting my kit in a few days and I can hardly wait! I am 5'2-1/2" and weigh 150. I supervise a data entry unit at an insurance company, so lots of sitting-at-the-computer time. But I take a commuter bus to work and have several 10 minute walks to/from, and beautiful parks for lunchtime walking. I have always been active with walking, hiking, and zumba/jazzercise type classes. I have been anywhere between 130 to 185 lbs over the last 20 years, several times :s . I had been able to maintain around 140 lbs for about 3 years after doing another program, but it's starting to creep up and I just need to get back into the habit of clean eating and regular exercise. And water! I feel so much better when I am fit and healthy and able to put on anything in my closet!

Hello Everyone - I'm Mary and I just started day 1 today! I've tried many things and I'm great at keeping with short workouts (I like to sweat out my stress! :) ). My biggest problem has always been portion control. I love food - all food. And my mother taught me to "clean my plate".
I'm currently 171, 5'3 - I'd like to eventually get down to 130-ish but I'm more concerned with health than a number. I want to look in the mirror and feel good about myself. I've always been fairly curvy (even when I didn't weigh much - thanks for the boobs, mom) so I'm not sure how realistic 130 is so when I get closer to that, I'm going to see where I'm at.

So far I've gotten my workout in for the day (early morning) and have my lunch and snacks packed for the day! Going strong :) Any support would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! My name is Rachel. I'm a mom to three kids; Elise 7, Lila 5, and Zachary 2. I work full time as a pharmacist at a hospital. I work a mix of days and evenings, so it's hard for me to find a good routine. Since becoming a mom, I've been from 120 lbs (last spring) to 220 lbs (9 months pregnant). I'm a runner, but for some reason just bored of it this summer. I got down to my lowest weight last spring by doing a meal delivery service (Seattle Sutton) which took all the guesswork out of dieting, it was amazing to get down to my goal weight. Unfortunately it's not financially feasible to stay on a program like that for life, so once I got off of it, I gained almost half the weight I lost back. I also was not working out during that time, which I know was a poor decision, because I have very little muscle mass now. I picked 21 day fix extreme because Autumn uses weights and I needed something where the meals were spelled out for me. My husband has Insanity and Asylum, but I really needed to keep my workouts to 30 minutes. I spent 3 hours yesterday going to the grocery store and packing 7 days worth of 21 day fix meals. It seems like a lot of food! I hope prep time gets easier. Anyway, today is day 2, my arms and legs are killing!
I'm excited to see everyone's results, so happy we all made the decision to commit to the Fix!

Welcome ladies, feel free to add me for support! I love fellow fixers on my friends list. I'm on day 4 now and so far so good! I also feel like it's alot of food and last night was silly because i went and ate all my veggie portions before dinner and so i was planning to make summer salad with eggplant on top, but i needed to get two more protein in and one carb so i decided to have breakfast for dinner instead LOL. I think the prep will get easier and to really simplify things you should eat the same few meals everyday. It gets a little boring but i find it easier. Like for me i've been eating yogurt (red) and fruit (purple) for breakfast and salad with balsalmic vinegarette (two green, one orange) with a protein (red) either veggie burger or chicken on top. Then dinner i usually see what i need fit in and come up with something. I also watched some youtube videos on meal planning and prepping which were VERY helpful!

That's exactly what I did. To simplify the whole process I just made the same food for all 7 days. It's day 3 and I'm already getting a good idea of the portion size, I think by the end, I'll be able to eyeball the portions and be more creative... Hopefully. Next week I'll have to get some veggie burgers in, those are great. I can tell that I'm also getting rid of my sweet tooth, if I cut sugar out, I stop craving it, which helps a lot.
Feel free anyone to add me to your feed for encouragement or accountability. I don't log my food though, it's too much work to do that plus the containers for me.

Hi! I've been on MFP for about 1 and 1/2 years now!

I've done every diet plan but I can never keep the weight off.

I ordered the 21 day fix but haven't gotten it in the mail yet. But I am super excited to get started as soon as it gets here.

I weigh 166 lbs and i want to get in the 150's lbs by the time I am done with the 1st round.

My main problem is i don't really mind doing workout videos some days are more hard to do workout videos than other days but it's more really about not eating the right portions of food for me.

So that's why I think it's so awesome that Autumn is giving us the containers for portion control as well as the 7 day workout DVD's to do everyday!

I am also doing this with my Mom and Dad so we are doing this as a family which is pretty motivating as well! :)

As soon as I get the 21 day fix package i will post again! :)

Hello. My name is Danielle. I am a wife to active duty military spouse, going to be 38 in January, and we have two young kids 5 and 2. I was really active in highschool but stopped being active in college. I carried some weight into my first marriage and ate to comfort myself when times were rough:(. I got a divorce and that got me to a new time record gain but i got control of my emotions and started exercising again and eating healthy. I met my husband we both love to eat out so weight was creeping on! I got pregnant with first child, lost baby weight after. We had a second child, weight came on again. I had teo c-sections and umbilical hernia repair so really looking for my flat tummy again time to get this mommy healthy again:)

Hi all, this will be the 2nd time i am doing the 21 day fix and ill be starting it on the 31st. I come form a large family and all of us are over weight, as kids my mom used to tell us we were all just big boned lol. I am 31 will be 32 the end of September, im happily married and we have a 5 year old daughter i swear she is going on 25. My husband is supportive of me trying to lose weight (but does not thing i need too) also he does not get that it is harder for me than it was for him.( he went from about 280 to 150 just from working in his field of heating and cooling and it was right after highschool). my heaviest weight was aroung 250 when i was pregnant and i have been maintaining it at about 210-200 for the past 5 years. my goal or ideal weight is some where around 140-150 as im only 5'5.

Weight has always been a thorn in my side for as long as i can remember. the 21 day fix is just a great plan because i realized that one of my problems with my weight is that i dont eat enough( i could live on just coffee) and when i do eat its all the wrong things like soda and chips and pizza. I work in an office and we are surrounded by food places and that does not help. My only problem is i dont like many vegtables so getting all my veggies in is a little tough for me but i make it work. I am really excited to start this new chapter in my life im not planing on just dieting but changing my life style to be more active and healthy eating!!
    good luck everyone

I'm 5'5" as well (some doctors say 5'6") and also work in an office. Feel free to add me as a friend if you want!
Congrats on finishing Round 1 and starting Round 2!!!

Hello, Ladies and gents if applicable. My name is Darlene and I am a 56 year-old who works out regularly. I have always been active as far a weightlifting goes. I started back in my early 20s as a professional cheerleader and after that continued to dance and began weight lifting. Once those 30s hit and I wasn't as active, sitting down most of the day, the weight crept up. I continued to lift weights off and on and invested in many workout DVDs; Turbo Jam, Supreme 90 Day, P90X3 (really didn't like this one) and too many to name them all. But Cathe Friedrich and Kelly Coffey-Meyer are some of my favorites. I haven't yet purchased 21 Day Fix because I am looking at all the the inspiration I can get to motivate me to make that move. So ladies, all of your feedback on this program is appreciated and looking forward to hearing from you.

@CrosbyMcDowell, " Summer of 2010, I was a raw foodist for about 3 or 4 months. I really just wanted to try it out and see how I felt. I felt AMAZING, had the most ridiculous amount of energy!!!" I also did the raw food thing for about 3 months and you are so right the energy was AMAZING!!!. But you are also right in that it is not sustainable. May try it again for a month or two...maybe.

@dafoots0911 I keep thinking if I can just incorporate more of it, I'll be doing really well. I saw on a message board today someone who does raw until 4pm. I might try that soon.... Though I'm not so sure it's compatible with 21 day fix. :/

I understand. I too try but so hooked on this "getting in your protein" thing, I did find it hard to maintain muscle on a raw food diet. My muscles, I worked to long and hard to get to turn around and lose.
