Marla - I grew up watching houses both get built or get fixed up. We once live in a farm house built in the late 1800s so that was interesting. Glad you got to spend some time on the beach and made it to your class!
Laura - It looks like from your feed that you enjoyed your new class! I like to change things up every once in a while too.. How did your run go?
My training session kicked my butt! But in a good way! This is my second week of finally consistently training...and the second and third weeks are always the hardest! Basically my body is wondering what the heck I'm doing to it!
I enjoyed my break from counting calories. I was able to focus more on why I'm eating and it naturally developed into a tendency to have small snacks throughout the day to keep me from getting too hungry. As a result I ate smaller amounts more frequently which I had never been able to do when I tried to schedule it. I'm back to counting calories and starting a new program with my trainer. I had a video and a workbook to use this week. The video was awesome! Talked about the way we view food and the fact that having guilt when eating "bad food" or even viewing food as inherently good or bad is the slippery slope that leads to eating disorders. We should have a much healthier take on food. I'm so excited to be in a program that will continue my journey towards enjoying food in a healthy way!
I'm off to ride the indoor bikes at the Y this morning. I'm working at church after I drop the kids off at school (Hehehehehe! No kids every morning!) and then I'm donating blood just before lunch. Not much else going on the rest of the day. Just want to enjoy my hubby and kids before he heads off to work tomorrow. Have a great day everyone!0 -
Marla hope the skies are clearer for you today & there's less smoke!
Val it sounds like you're making a lot of positive steps! Glad you had a good session with your trainer, and it sounds like that's going to be great for both fitness & nutrition.
I definitely agree about the bad food thing. There's nothing that I consider off limits because as soon as I ban a food I immediately want it. There are foods that are definitely occasional treats though instead of normal parts of my diet, but that's okay. I've also found some substitutes that work. Ice cream has been one of my biggest issues because I love ice cream but I'm particular about it. My trainer sent me an article from one of the triathlete sites he reads that suggested 3 alternatives. I was able to find 2 of them locally, and I like one of them. They're Yasso brand Greek yogurt bars. 100 calories & 5g of protein so they're a treat but have the bonus of not just being empty calories.
The class last night was great, so I'll definitely do it again. We started out doing some yoga flow, then moved into body sculpting (high rep/low weight), then did some Pilates, then finished with a stretch. There was core work intermixed throughout. My run was hot, but it went well. My trainer is gradually bumping up my run, so I went up from 20 minutes of running (four 5 minute intervals) to 21 minutes (three 7 minute intervals). My cardio is crap right now. Part of that is because there are certain things that still tweak my leg, and part of it is I just got out of the habit of getting in the extra cardio while I was on forced rest. The first 7 minutes felt great. The second 7 minutes I was definitely working harder, although part of that was I was coming back uphill, and looking at my splits after I was also running a bit faster. My third 7 minutes I made a point to slow down again and it went fine.
Jason tonight. Should probably do some cardio before.0 -
Air is in the green this morning so will do a walk soon, I didn't sleep well it was hot and fan we left on kept me up.
we would do things like paint, fix yard, put in new faucets, maybe sink in kitchen if its not hard, will hire out for new water heater and plumbing stuff. I am a bit worried about a past problem they say they fixed but used home insurance, i thought insurance was only for storms and fire. It was to fix flooring from a water leak.
My concern is paragraph i read yesterday about hme insurance being expensive or hard to get because of that! I sent email to realtor about it. I got that from report she sent. If we had read that report first we would have not made offer on house. There is a chance we might pull out. We are retired and its taking all our money to buy so any fixing has to be little things not major remodeling.

Did they say what caused the water leak? If the problem was something they fixed I don't know why that would impact insurance, but if it's something that could happen again (like flooding) then I can see that being an issue on rates. Hopefully you're able to figure that out.0

Its not in a flood zone and i found out from insurance guy today their claim won't affect my rates. Hubby is going Tuesday to be there for general inspection to see if anything is currently wrong or not.
I am wondering if leak was just bad plumbing job, that happened to me once in a newer home. Had to repair subflooring from it and house was only 9 yrs old.0
