I need suggestions for room temp (no refrigeration/ heating needed) that I can keep at my desk to eat at work. Things are so busy right now I didn't get away to heat up my breakfast or lunch today, and so I didn't get to eat until I left at 2. Thankfully on this WOE its not such a big deal to miss a meal, but I'd rather not if I can help it. (My appetite came roaring back from last week so that whole one meal a day thing didn't last long!)

Any good suggestions?

cheese. Yes, we keep it in the fridge but really it does not need it for short term. I used to camp with it for days, weeks for really aged cheese. Just not sitting in the sun and if you office is hot, then wrap in cheese cloth (it just struck me, the old names for things had a reason!). Cheese cloth keeps the moisture that cheese sweats when not refrigerated.

I dehydrate my own jerky and love it. You have to use lean cuts of meat. I use London Broil.
    For 2 lbs of meat
    2 teaspoons Kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1 tablespoon sugar substitute

Just slice your meat thin and stick in your dehydrator about 5 - 6 hours. You can do it in an oven but I've never done that so not sure how to go about it.

Od course rub the seasoning on after slicing but before dehydration. Lol left that part out.
