Hey everyone. I joined this group a few months ago but this is my first time posting. I'm 26, newly married and I have a 5 year old and 1 year old. I had surgery when I was 11 for my scoliosis. Before the surgery I was slim. After the surgery, since I couldn't do anything for a few months except lay down and eat, that's when I gained weight. I've gained and lost off and on over the years. I've never had a problem losing the weight until after I had my 2nd in may 2014. Since then, it's been the same: I eat well during the day, then come 8:30ish, I'm craving cookies and cake and mostly ice cream. I'll eat a whole pint of ice cream ( ben and Jerry's pints have around 900 calories ) and I'll even have some chips as well. It's this vicious cycle that I can't control. If I didn't exercise the way I do, I'd be gaining a few pounds a week. Right now I'm staying the same. But I want out of this cycle and I don't know how to get out of it.

    You're definitely not alone in that! I too get the urges around that time of night. Thankfully I found this group and will discover how to beat this :)

    I know the feeling of the vicious cycle - the time of day when I break down is about 4:00 in the afternoon. I'm home alone when I get off work so I used to just go completely nuts...I've been making very, very slow progress on that.

    The best advice in my opinion would be to stop buying the food that inspires your binges for a while. Though since you don't live alone this isn't always feasible. But hiding it or telling your family members that you aren't going to eat it so that they hold you accountable might help. I wish you the best of luck (and you too, Tammi1216!) There's a light at the end of the tunnel for all three of us!

    Finn gave the advice that I needed to follow. Try to just keep the food away or make it very inconvenient to get at. I also had to stop figuring out why I binged and just stop as soon as I found myself doing it by either going to bed or distracting myself with something else...anything else. You can beat this. Posting here is an excellent start. You have lots of support from people in similar situations who understand without judgment.

    I don't normally buy a lot of sweets. But my mother and mother in law are always making or buying sweets and they give to us and the kids. Well the kids don't get much of it, since I eat it. I've told my husband before to tell his mom to not give us so much sweet stuff. She doesn't speak much English so it's easier for him to explain it. She's not doing it as much but still some. And when my mom says she made cookies or cake or bought donuts, I'm there. I want to be at the stage where I can say no, but I'm not there right now, not even close

    hi! welcome here, hope this group could help you ! i know this! everybody always give a lot of candies for our two daughters , they are very Young (4 and 3) so we give them few candies sometimes, and I can't resist to eat the other ones :(
    we didn't buy candies or cakes for home (my husband is a huge support for me) , we made our own cakes for our daughters, it helps reducing bingeing but i'ts not easy when you have kids to not have trigger food at home...
