Anyone else not need as much sleep?

Boy, all of a sudden it seems I'm staying up way later and waking up REALLY early. However, I don't really feel sleepy during the day. I actually feel like I have WAY more energy than before...I'm almost rammy. Is this normal?

I used to work with a lady who was from India, in fact she was a Hunza.. y'know, one of those tribes that eat yoghurt and live to be 113. She was a strict vegetarian who ate pretty sparingly.. and told me she only needed 4 hours of sleep a night.. any more than that seemed like overkill to her. (I saw her again 20 years later and she looked exactly the same!) She couldn't believe that Americans slept considered 6 to 8 hours or more "normal."
Conversely, I've read some US studies that had college students sleeping extra or less than usual and then monitored any seemingly resulting changes in their grades.. and the main finding was that the kids who started sleeping 10 hours.. (not 6 or 8) their grades went way up.
I think it's a "your mileage may vary" thing but I personally think with less food and more efficient food/nutrition you can need somewhat less sleep.0 -
yes I find I don't need anywhere near as much sleep as when I ate SAD. Like you I find I go to bed later (around 10 -11pm) and wake earlier (around 5:30am) but I don't usually sleep all of that time. Last night I had 3 and a quarter hours sleep (this probably occurs 2-3 times a week) and I've worked a physically hard day today and felt great with no loss of concentration. When this first started happening after beginning primal I panicked a bit as I thought I would be a wreck but there has been no change in energy or concentration levels and I rarely get the sleep deprivation headache that I used to when eating SAD.0

I have found that I tend to sleep less when on plan and after the fourth day I am much more energetic and feel more perky or whatever you want to call it. I am not a perky sort of person. I have been off and on a couple of times the last couple of months finding what works best for me and it has been the same each time. I was off last week and had awful tummy aches and issues. I am on day 2 today and woke up an hour early with no gut problems. I am definetly staying gluten free.0

I think for me, I'm not getting carb-crash sleepy, so my normal sleep is sufficient. I'm sleeping just as much (in fact I'm trying to get to bed earlier just so I can have a bit more time in the mornings), but it's definitely more restful than when I was eating SAD.0
