Marla - hopefully today brings more relief to your rash! And that wasn't tmi...I could see how sweating could be very irritating to it.
Laura - sounds like you've been busy!
I did get my bike ride in yesterday afternoon. I spent the morning doing battle with technology and I still have more to do today to try to figure out how to use the church's computer to play our curriculum for Sunday Morning children's worship. Part of my new responsibilities. I was shown once how to do it...but there will always be that transition as I figure it out myself. Reminding myself that once I get it figured out, it won't take very long. I then did battle with gmail to figure out how to make group contact lists for the PTO and that took a while but at least in that area I was triumphant. I've only made one group out of six so far...but now that I figured it out that shouldn't take too long. Hoping to be done with all the more lengthy work for the PTO by next week. The rest of the year is smooth sailing once I get everything entered and ready. Just sending out the occasional email and taking notes at the meetings once a month.
Hubby took middle child to the lake to play on our kayak. But he stayed out super long and by the time they got back he had to go straight to worship practice. During that time our friends came over to drop off their son. I had agreed to watch him for them. So I ended up with four kids on my own for dinner. I told hubby later that night that he needed to start making family dinner a priority. He did this for the past couple years where he would go do what he wanted to and end up missing dinner and eating later after the kids were in bed. But he works during pretty much every meal (4 of the dinner each week)...so I cook for him but never actually eat with him. Another meal we eat with our bible study. So that leaves only two meals a week together and then he tends to ditch those. But he definitely seemed to understand what I was saying, so hopefully I've nipped that in the bud this year.
Have a four mile run this morning, then going grocery shopping and heading to church to finish my battle with technology. Cleaning the living room and family room this afternoon. Hoping to rent a movie to watch with the kids and just sit back and have a quiet evening as a family tonight. Have a great weekend everyone!0 -
Family dinners are so important, and yet they seem to be the thing that gets sacrificed when people get busy. As a family though I think it's good to take that time to sit and just connect with each other, especially when life is busy.
My aunt & uncle used to take a short period of time at the end of the day, regardless of what they were doing, to just sit down together and talk about their days. There was a certain loveseat they always sat on. She died from cancer and he said one of the things he missed the most was those 10 minutes at the end of the day.
I only woke up once during the night last night, which is progress. Was awake about an hour. I was actually asleep when my alarm went off this morning.
I had a really good workout week, and I'm tired. Typically Sundays are my rest days but I'm thinking about taking today off instead and getting out on my bike on Sunday. I've only been on it twice this year, and neither time went very well with my leg, but my leg is feeling a lot better so Jason was encouraging me to try it again. Friday is supposed to be my swimming day but I'm getting a massage right after work, so I'll have to see how I feel after. It's a shorter appointment than I usually make, but my boss had an appointment & can't make it so she asked if I wanted it (we go to the same person).
I volunteered for a triathlon on Sunday and I'm pretty crabby with them. They email me at 9:00 on Tuesday night to tell me there's a volunteer meeting Thursday at 6:00. I have my trainer then, and that didn't give me enough time to move things around, so I said I couldn't make it. When I signed up all they asked was the time window when I was available, so I picked 9-12 on race day. They were supposed to email me all the details (what I'll be doing, where I should park, where I should check in) yesterday. Instead today I got a one line email asking me if I could work the bike course from 7-12. I told her it depended on what it was - with my bad leg I can't stand on pavement for 5 hours without being in a lot of pain. One of the jobs she had available was making sure people turn in the right place and that would take from 7:00 - 8:30, so I took that. I asked for the rest of the details and she told me registration for volunteers is the day before the race. It's an hour drive round-trip on Saturday to pick up my information (including the t-shirt they want me to wear) plus another hour drive round trip on Sunday for the race for a total of 90 minutes of volunteering. No. I'm in Duluth today so I asked if I could pick it up now & I'm waiting to hear back. Meanwhile I still don't know where I'm supposed to go on Sunday morning. If you have people willing to come volunteer their time, maybe show a modicum of courtesy.0 -
Hi, wish I could say woke up and this gone, they say it takes weeks so i need to be patient.
Thinking of waiting till next week for nia because of itch still off and on.
Val my younger daughter with busy husband who is commander of base in Texas has the dinner issue. What she ended up doing is on nights he doesnt eat with kids she waits and eats with him late so at least they have time together.
Laura hope you get volunteer thing worked out, they sound disoranized.
Just going to a movie today to get out.0
