Unbelievable. Why are people so hostile? I've come to the conclusion that if something doesn't work for you (weight watchers, in my case) its time to try something else. Not everyone is the same. I tried CICO, got stuck, exercised more, cut calories and remained stuck. The advice I got was useless (eat back your exercise calories) as if you have any reliable information on how many calories get consumed.
This group is a much better place than MFP as a whole.0 -

I find it much more supportive in this group. It's far too hostile in the main forum. I want help when I ask a question, not to be made to feel like I'm stupid and lazy.0

Interesting read, the comments were just icing (not that I eat icing anymore, lol). My husband very much believes in CICO and I find it very frustrating. CICO simply did not work for me probably because I'm type 2 diabetic and low carb does. I am eating slightly less calories on low carb then when I was just counting calories. I think because I'm just not as hungry but not enough to account for my weight loss. CICO does not work for everyone.0

Love the comments that promote continuous eating...SMH..."to train your brain to not be hungry" I think one said. Oh those poor ancestors who did not have enough food to eat all day long (I mean in times of food scarcity like the depression, the world wars, etc.)...they must have suffered sooo much!0

CICO accounts for exercise. Not sure why that baffles so many.
I can't be asked to deal with idiots in my actual social interactions or forum activities on here or other forums.
When I am told I can't lose weight by exercise it is just a quick indication I need to disregard what the person says
I just finished 30 miles today on the bike. And did 40 yesterday. So 70 miles of riding does not help a guy lose weight?

So angry!! Haha. It's a bit disturbing. I hope MFP leaves it up and just ignores the commenters. Even if I was losing weight successfully and continuously on cico, I would be interested in reading that. It's not like it's my religion! People really need to open their eyes and realize if something doesn't work for everyone...well, then it doesn't work for everyone!! It's not always so simple as people want to believe. And maybe that's what they hate; the simplicity is challenged and they see it as misinformation.
It's worth taking note of how certain foods affect or don't affect you; why wouldn't you want to know on your journey for health and fitness? I find it really interesting0 -

Good point. I think I got caught up in the fact that it's nice to see a blog post not promoting strict CICO as the only thing that matters, and the comments below were amusing and covered all the usual bases. It's probably wise for everyone here to not comment on the blog post (positively or negatively), if they've found it through this group. From here on out, we should probably keep the discussion of the article strictly related to the article itself and not the comments.0 -

I like the idea of looking at the impact of refined carbs/sugar as to how they compare to fibrous veggie carbs
In my experience there is no comparison on how they hit your glucometer
So I have proof that sugar carbs are way more "bad carbs" for me.
If I'm sitting on my butt.
At the same time I own the fact that I had a Snickers before my ride today and two 100 calorie electrolyte packs that are mainly sugar
The effect of net carbs interests me. The impact of carbs we don't burn.
For me those are the bad ones too
But when I was out of control food wise, to be honest, I don't think my body cared when I was eating 5000 calories a day.

There are many other fitness forums.
I think the issue is attacking others when it happens. I can support the fair application of that concept.
We have a peaceful group here that is always nice to pop in and visit

It's been my experience that whenever a post touches on the subject of "blaming sugar" for creating health or weight loss issues for people, it always gets deleted. I've participated in 3 discussions on MFP where I supported the opinion that sugar creates a feeling of "wanting more and more" and therefore leading to binge eating and all 3 posts were closed and deleted and the mods stepped in and shamed everyone for being ugly but made sure to let us know that we "don't food shame" and there are no "evil foods". So, it was pretty clear to me who they really wanted to stop talking.
I understand very well that the masses find this kind of thinking very unconventional and a little crazy, but people should be allowed to have differing opinions when they are stated politely and based on personal experience.
Unfortunately, most people view someone saying "I used to have a problem with binging on sugar and I found I wasn't successful with moderation so I cut out sugar and stopped craving it and now I have it under control" the same as "I realized if I wear non-matching socks on Thursdays that I can control my sugar cravings all week, you should all do the same with no exception because sock science". I really think that's how they hear it...0 -

I often call alcohol the devil. I do it jokingly.
Anyone with common sense knows food in any form is not evil. People do have different reactions to different foods though.
It seems logical ,to me, that if a food spikes blood sugar it might not be healthy for certain people.
Food shaming sounds a bit weird..kind of how some foodie types will shame a frozen turkey over a fresh turkey.
The thing is, some poorer people may not be able to afford fresh or organic.
A lot of peoples health could boil down to the almighty dollar.
Just some rambling thoughts on my part. I need to get busy today and get off this app.0 -
