Yet another late start to this week. It's crazy how busy things get when school kicks in and we get out of summer mode. Anyways, how was last week? Do we need to put out an APB for Kristine now???
My week was a lot of fun, but not as far as the scale is concerned (I'm up 3 since last week). My half week trip to the Bay Area was a lot of fun. I stayed with a friend of mine for the first couple nights, went into my office, and reconnected with some coworkers.
On Friday night, I went up to Brentwood and got together with a couple close friends from high school days. Saturday, they took me to Napa, which believe it or not, was my first time visiting. We went to a few different wineries and enjoyed tasting some excellent wines, with one of them being a private wine tasting. This was really cool, complete with tasting wines in a private room, going out and sampling some actual grapes from the vines, and even a look into the back area where they process the grapes, mix up the liquid content, and put them in barrels to age. There were a couple different rooms where there were about 6000 barrels total (I think). It's hard to keep straight all the facts sometimes.
Then on Sunday, my Alma Mater's Bay Area chapter had a chile roast (kinda like the one I mentioned before) and I always have a great time then. I spent most of the time, manning one of the two small chile roasters and didn't leave until almost 7. I got home after midnight and as I was passing thru my small town, there was a fire going on in one of the businesses, so I had to wait until the firemen could clear the road as the water hose had to cross the highway.
Since then, it's been busy busy busy. No working out for me but I'm not going to give up just yet and at least, I'm not eating out like I was last week. Hopefully I can do something active on Labor Day.
Have a great week (what's left of it) and also a great holiday weekend!

Sorry to have "disappeared" for a bit. I'm here and I've been lurking from time to time. It's just been a crazy week and a half and I haven't had a lot of time to post anything. I have been reading up on everything though and it sound like you guys have been just as busy! I had a wedding (my neice), three birthdays, a bit of travelling (all local - nothing special unfortunately ), and things have seemed to kick into the next gear at work with a bunch of projects all trying to wrap up or start up at the same time. Feast or famine, ya know?
Sounds like you had a good week Scott - and also a lot going on! I wouldn't sweat the 3 lbs - that could easily be water weight from all the travelling and I'm betting it'll come back off pretty quickly. I was down .8 last week and I'm down another .6 so far this week as of this morning. I've noticed over the past few weeks though, that I seem to be yo-yo-ing a bit more from day to day. I'll post a loss on Sunday, and then on Monday, I'll have gained it right back (and maybe more!). Then by Wednesday, I'll be back to where I was Sunday (hopefully) and then I'll post a small loss again by Sunday. That seems to be the pattern - which is different than what I've experienced through most of this journey - but hey! At least the overall trend still seems to be in the right direction, right? It sounds as though the overall trend in your case might still be on the positive side as well. There's nothing wrong with having a little fun - taking a little break from time to time - and then getting back to it! I noticed you posted some exercise and some weight losses in your status recently, so it looks like you're getting back on track.
Napa sounded like fun! I've only ever been to San Diego in California, which I loved. I really don't like wine too much - unless it's really sweet - but I'd still love to see that area someday.
I wanted to let you know how my jumping on the box went at CrossFit class - I DID IT! It was only a 12" box, but I actually didn't have any trouble at all. Actually, I did a workout where I had to do this circuit of 8 Deadlifts, 10 box jumps, and 12 kettlebell swings as many times as I could in 10 minutes. I made it through that 5 times and by the end, oddly, I found the box jumps to be easier than they were in the beginning. There must be technique to it that I got better at as I went. The next height up is 18" - we'll see how that goes! I'm done now with the on-ramp classes and I did really like them, but I'm not sure that I'll continue on due to the expense. I just bought a weight bench with a squatting rack, Olympic bar and weights and a curling bar and a couple of dumb bells from Craigslist - so I may focus on the lifting for a while now. That was only a one time expense of $150 as opposed to $125/mo to attend Crossfit.
Debbie - I read about your son and I've been praying for him. I hope he is doing better?0 -
Thought I would check in while waiting to take my son to the neurologist this morning to read the MRI.
I love Napa, even if you didn't drink wine it is so pretty there and lots to learn. Glad you had such a good time and busy weekend.
I can even imagine jumping up on a box!!! You go girl.0
