So it seems that hypothyroidism can often times come along with other deficiencies. Such as low vitamin d levels.

I'm curious what supplements you have been recommended to take?

What supplements can you not take together?

Besides thyroid medication what have you found is helping you feel better?

I have hypo but my Vit D levels are fine.

I learned Chai seeds are NOT good to take with thyroid medication as the Chai seed can dangerously upset the balance. The thyroid hormone is a finicky one, so I wouldn't recommend taking this supplement if you're taking a synthetic one at a prescribed level that your doctor knows is right for you.

    Chia seeds, Really!??

Wonder if they should be avoided entirely or just within a couple hours of taking thyroid medications??

Good question - I now wonder too. I plan to ask my doctor about the latter part as I had the understanding of entirely.

Chia seeds are high in fiber and so it's not recommended to be taken at the same time as your thyroid meds; just like any other high fibre foods. Chia seeds are a good source of Omega 3. I often mix a tsp with my protein shakes, greek yogurt or in a glass of water 30 minutes before my supper and the fibre helps me feel full.

I supplement with Vit D, B-12, selenium, a good quality Omega 3 (no mercury),and ashwagandha. When first diagnosed I supplemented with adaptogens to help rebuild my adrenals.

No vit. D either?! I know about calcium and iron needing to be spaced away from meds, also caffeine, and as per intructions I leave about 0.5-1hr between taking meds in the morning with water and eating/drinking other than water. But I hadn't heard that vit. D interacted too!!

As for the original question, I do: high strength B Complex, high strength D, soon starting Omega 3 (EPA/DHA 300mg). I've become a bit fed up with all the various supplements (!) so I'm leaving it there for a while and focusing on getting my iron, calcium, vit. C etc from food sources. I get tested for a bunch of deficiences when my thyroid is tested (every 3-6 months) so I'll change if necessary.

I've heard CoQ10 is good but *no* idea in what dosage.

Anyone taking CLA supplements? I have an appt coming up this week and she told me depending on my new bloodwork results we might consider adding selenium and CLA.

I never really took any medication before. Now that I started thyroid medication it seems I'm taking a lot of other pills to either eliminate deficiencies or help with absorbtion for the Armour!
