Let's do this one again!
Anti-Office Bod -- targets the areas most affected by sitting.
She suggests 4 sets of 12 reps each...I say...how about 2 sets of 12 reps with 50 seconds rest between sets. If you are so inclined to do more that 2 sets...have at it!!
1. Glute Bridge
2. Push-Up
3. Plank (30 seconds)
4. Step-Back Lunge
5. Squat
6. Single-Leg Toe Touch
7. Side Lunge
Let me know what you think.
Have fun!

If you don't have a dog, a gardener will do. After seeing the gardener, passed the front door and kept going around the block. Since we're on a mountainside, that was a 40 minute hike. Later DH and I cleared out a space in the garage for his new toy (generator) which became an hour of hauling and stacking wood.
So steps and arms are done. We'll see if the workout gets built into the rest of the day. That'd be nice, my bum likes this one very much.
Hope everyone is doing better. I ate like a pig this weekend and was stunned to have lost (!?!?) a half pound. Today the bagels, crackers, cashews and cereal are gone, and the sugar went down the drain. So I feel super lucky and on track again. Hope you all are as fortunate. :flowerforyou:

Paula, why were you chasing the gardener? Good garage workout!! Steps and arm for sure! I did the trash/drain thing last week. I was much better after it was all gone. Gave the last of my peppermint to DDD. I don't know what gets into me...some kind of gremlin attacking my sugar synapses...yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. Congrats on your half pound loss...I can't say the same. I'll report tomorrow morning's weight.
Walked w/DH really early this morning...then hit the gym w/DDD...then walked w/DH and Bean...then shopped...then cooked...now sitting. It's supposed to get really hot this week, so DH and I have to get out there early every morning...no fussing around!
I managed 9.31 miles for 20,327 steps so far. It's been a good day.
I hope you are all having a grand holiday!

The ones with good intentions are history. My karate books, gone. I am making room for a new hobby. Not sure what it will be, but I want the room.
Chris my neighbor did exactly what your DDD did. She has so little in her home. Very nice. If I am not going to use it I toss it. The only exception I have to make is my doily patterns. Yes I crochet! And I am really good at it. If it says expert in the directions I want to do it. I just have not had time. So I boxed them up. I have patterns that are from the 40's. And some hooks that you have to feel for the hook. Retirement is calling.
I uncluttered some drawers awhile ago. It felt great. And I love knowing where all 20 tape dispensers are!
Shelley
I do french (spool) knitting, it's fun, but no idea what to do with the cords later. :ohwell:
Chris, I was not chasing the gardener! I'm innocent!DH & I had a special job for him, afterward DH went home and I went walking. Good thing too, because even though it felt like I didn't overeat today, it still used up all those exercise calories. Boy do they add up fast.

I decided to take a rest day yesterday. Then I decided to clean out the fridge in the garage which led to cleaning out the garage. On a mission to "fall" clean for the next couple of months before the holiday season. Next up my home office.
Can't wait...Serena vs Venus tonight...have to race home after tennis practice.
Have a good Tuesday,
Kathy0 -
Back to work today after having a wonderful time with my daughter and her fiancé. They came to see us from Baton Rouge and we had a family get together for MIL's 85th birthday.0
-
Kathy nice job on the fridge...I know where there's another on that could use a good clean out...
...just sayin'. Have fun watching the game!
Clara I'm glad you had fun with your DD and future SIL. I bet it was a pretty nice b'day party.
Ha! I crocheted too! I haven't since DDD was little. No expert but "baby blanket" good!! Never could master knitting...clunky at it. I mostly cross stitched. I loved working on the 36 or 42 count fabric. I have some terrific pics...out in the garage that some retired folks were going to clean up...don't do it any more can't see anything but the 10 and 14 count fabric and I'm not crazy about that big a space. I'm no good with a magnifying glass either. I have boxes and boxes of pictures and patterns and fabric and thread. OMG! ...boxes and boxes...out in the garage!!
Paula, I don't know what French spool knitting it...I'll have to look it up.
Going to pick up Bean in a bit and go walking w/DH before the heat settles in. Supposed to be 100 today...102 tomorrow...103 Thursday...EGAD!!
Back later my friends!!

Walked w/DH and Bean this morning then got on the bike for 45 minutes and watched an episode of Grimm then helped out in DDD's first grade classroom. A good Tuesday!
So, 5.71 miles for 12,472 steps and 12.10 miles on the recumbent.
I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday and that tomorrow is grand for everyone!
Chris0 -
Just got home from work & errands. Today may be a rest day for me.
Kathy - I'm hoping one of the Williams sisters will win. Serena said something to that effect too.
Chris, Another tatter!
Clara - Sounds like a lovely time. We all need more of those.Happy for you.
Shelley, Hope you're not in too much pain. Oh those bags!!! :flowerforyou:
Best wishes to all!
Paula0 -
Paula I doubt I will retire first. And if you are going to chase the gardener you will have to get binos and a great disguise.
So were you blaming not walking on no dog last week? I know I saw that somewhere.
French knitting? Interesting, and I tat very little. I crochet intricate doilies. Like for old ladies!
And I am not sore at all, unless you count the sunburn and my wrist. It is always acting up though.
Kathy I love it when I turn a little cleaning into a lot. So much better when you are in the mood. I know I have lots to do. I hope the game was lots of fun to watch.
Clara glad you had a great visit.
Chris sounds like you may have found your next decluttering project. Just saying, oh you are the retired folks! LMAO. You best get busy. Do not even dare to open the boxes. Just hoist them on out into the truck for the trip to the dump.I got rid of some cross stitching not very long ago. So lightening! Great steps there Chris.
And Paula I so know what you mean about using up the calories really quickly. Crazy fast!
Ok, I must tell the group. I lost my Miss Gilligan. She is no where in the tank. I looked for days. Moved rocks and hunted for her. The conclusion I come to. That darn anemone got her. Rocky was given 30 days to find it a home or I yank it and toss it into the trash. So heart broken. She is the top fish in my photo. And since it is a seasonal fish I can not even begin to replace her until next spring or early summer.I had her for only a little over a year. The fish under her could be next. Nasty anemone! The purple fire fish I have had for over 2 years. Like to make it many more with that fish. Good news is the algae is all but eradicated from the tank.
Love the workout Chris. I noticed you forgot to add burpees. It is ok, I will add them for you.
Shelley0 -
Shelley, I'm so sorry about Miss Gillian. Maybe serve the anemone to Rocky for a snack...you know...anemone on Ritz with a dab of Worcestershire sauce...just sayin'.
I can't even look at the boxes I have to go through. The thought of it is so over-whelming...one of these days, though.
Today was a busy day for me!!! Walked w/DH and Bean very early this morning then got on the recumbent for some Grimm then got cleaned up and went down and helped DDD in her classroom then changed into my workout clothes and hit the gym w/DDD and SIL. Now I'm seriously thinking of sleep at 7:26 in the evening!! bwahahah!
I managed 6.82 miles for 14,813 steps; 45 mins on the recumbent for 12 miles; 50 minute killer gym workout w/DDD and our trainer. I have a bunch of exercise calories left but can't even keep my eyes open long enough to eat any more.
See you all tomorrow!!

So sad, Shelley.
My clothes are getting tight. Must cope. I biked at lunch today. Getting my sealegs back. Gonna make DH take me bike shopping for my BDay. New toy...
:flowerforyou: Paula0 -
Paula, when is your b'day? I hope you like biking.
Chris

Thank you both. Chris that would be fun to cook it up. But I believe it would be really bad actually.
Chris I hope to inspire you to start on those boxes. Just set aside 1 hour during the next week to start. Call it the Shelley hour. You can give an hour to me. And I am betting it will turn into a finished task. Love that you can not even stay awake long enough to eat back your calories.
Paula happy birthday! There are so many nice bikes out there today. I like the electric ones. I would go as far as my legs could possibly take me and then celebrate on the way back while technology carried me along. Muahaha. Have fun shopping.
Tomorrow I must take a class on basic emergency care. It is just another refresher class. If I get done early I will take the boys for a walk.
Shelley0 -
Good morning. Everyone is so busy but still doing well with health & fitness. I'm trying to get it under control again. I haven't been eating really well and need to start logging again. As much as I've avoid it I know I need to begin. At the end of the week when my work deadlines have passed, I'm going to the grocery with a planned menu & grocery list.
The holidays are fast approaching so I need to get it under control now.
Shelley - sorry about Miss Gillian. And hope you're able to get your walk in today.
Chris - I'm with Shelley I'm setting aside an hour daily to work on my next project...my office. Get to those boxes
Paula - a bike...what a great present!
Tennis practice tonight if the rain stays away. Fingers crossed...60% chance today. First match of fall on Sunday.
Happy Thursday,
Kathy

Shelley...bad? how? taste? maybe some garlic would help hide the nasty...
Shelley and Kathy...yeah, well...I'm thinking about it!! honest!
Kathy...what is this 'rain' you are talking about? I don't think Paula or I have any idea what that is...'rain'...nice word, but where can we find some????
Walked w/DH and Bean for a mile...DH's knee started acting up...so I went out for a quick 4 miles in 58 minutes then I got on the recumbent for the last episode of Grimm season 4. Season 5 doesn't start until Oct 30th.
I didn't go to 1st grade today. Maybe tomorrow...depending on DH and his knee.
So, I managed 7.5 miles for 14,567 steps and 11.0 miles on the recumbent in 45 minutes. My weight was down this morning and my eating is on track. It was a pretty good day!
Hope you all have a great Friday.
Chris

Chris anemones are not on the menu.
You are just being disgusting. Yuch! Great job on the downward trend. It must feel wonderful.
You know we should do a Grimm discussion on here when season 5 starts.
Tell hubby I hope his knee behaves and gets better.
Kathy love your inspiration.Cleaning out for a bright cheery office is awesome. I need before and after photos! And getting back to logging. Great plan. Especially with the upcoming holidays. They are killers.
Hope you all were able to practice.
And thank you, Miss Gilligan is missed. :c
Took the boys for their walk. Joey almost went under in a mud hole. Yuch!He jumped in thinking a swim and a drink would be nice. The bottom was alot deeper than it appeared and sucked my darling down into its depths.
I scooped him out and at the next clear looking watering hole put him in for a quick wash cycle.
No choice, he looked like the swamp creature. Stayed in my calories. It was a good day.
Shelley0 -
In anthropology they talk about how some places say you're "20miles away" others say you're "20minutes away" - well I'm 20 degrees away from the coast (aka 9 miles / 20 minutes). Possibly too hot to work out but Chris is walking in it, so maybe it's just me. I'm being bad, eating junk and hanging over my belt.
Is rain when the sky cries? Or (looking up) was that a pigeon? Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!
Association game: 1. Rain. 2. Pigeon. 3. Clown fish... ...three degrees from Shelley.
Okay, I'll get on board with a project - cleaning off the kitchen table. My husband thanks you. My car repairman curses you. I was going to need to pay him $500 for new keys if I couldn't find the old ones. They're buried on the table somewhere.
Best to you :flowerforyou:
Paula0 -
Shelley...and then I was thinking, you know, maybe, a hot dog bun
...now you know why I don't eat fish!!! gag!
Paula, ya gotta remember I'm retired...I walk at 7:30 in the morning while, you, my darling friend, ARE ON YOUR WAY TO WORK!!! I was done with both walks at 9:30 a.m....slight breeze...not hot yet. We still have the air conditioner on, and it's going on 9:00 p.m.! Tomorrow is supposed to get to 101....today got to 102! ugh! And, I love your association game!
Okay...one box tomorrow. DDD said I needed to set up three different bags...trash...good will/donations...keep. **sigh** fine! okay! **sigh** I'll go get the box now...
Then I'm going to bed!
Chris

Ok Shelley I did it. Two pictures of my office are on my profile. Yes, that is a treadmill folded up that needs to go. It lasted 15 years but it's dead. And yes that is a mattress on the floor. This use to be the "dump" room until I started working at home. It may take a couple of weeks but it will be my office and I am adding a day bed for guests...and quick naps for me.
I'm on it. I will post after pictures.
Kathy0 -
Okay...I opened and emptied a bunch of boxes this morning. I have two boxes to go to Good Will and two for the library. I'll drop those off tomorrow, then I'll work on some more. I have three boxes of books for DH to go through. The new bookcase is ready, the rest will go to the library. Then I helped DDD in her classroom. I got to grade papers and stack and staple stuff!
I only managed 4.06 miles for 8,862 steps. Tomorrow morning we hit the gym then maybe walk if DH's knee is better.
Going in search of my pillow now. Hope everyone has a grand Saturday!
Chris0 -
Well I did it again. Did not save my post from last night!
Kathy love it! And thanks for the snapshots. It will make it more real this way.You are going to love the room when you are done. Yes I noticed the mattress! I am still laughing. Muahaha. If you have room add at least a full size bed. We did the day bed. And really nice mattresses. With a pop up trundle. My cat loves it!
A larger bed would have been nicer. You are having a room makeover. WOOHOO. Sorry about Serena. I know she had to feel awful. It was a fluke. A sad one. Ok I will need updates weekly on the progress. New paint maybe even?
Chris sounds like a great start. But I must know if any is going to the trash? The library and goodwill are awesome choices. I bet you feel great about the accomplishment so far. Glad you were able to work with your daughter. I love staplers. Are you still looking for the keys? I like that your hubby thanked me.
Paula you see how Chris called you her darling friend while rubbing in that she is retired? Yep, I noticed that also.
Bought another 30 bags of concrete. Going to connect the patio to the hot tub. Should be fun.
Shelley0 -
Well the mattress has been moved upstairs to one of the bonus rooms...which is another story...will not go there yet.
Threw away a bunch of papers...it's a start. Debating painting...not sure Shelley. I have picked out the daybed. I was going for the twin because of the size of the room. I may reconsider and get the full.
We practiced yesterday for 2 hours. You can tell everyone is anxious about the first match of the season. My numbers yesterday was 9,860 steps for 4.05 miles.
Running a few errands this morning and housework this afternoon.
Kathy0 -
Kathy I will wait patiently to hear about the "bonus" room. Muahaha.
I like that you are getting rid of paper. Fire hazards! And mold issues. You would not regret getting a full sized bed as long as it fits. Rocky is still wanting to trade up. Have a great season, you really burn up calories playing tennis. And having friends to do things with is good for the heart.
Oops Chris, that is Paula who is looking for keys and the top of her table.
Well the sidewalk is done, Joey has put prints in it. Poured 5 stepping stones with the extra. 3 are for Chuck, our friend who helped. There was a stagecoach with horses, locomotive and a large prairie scene for him. He has a western theme in his back yard.
I am calling walking the boys and lifting all those bags a workout.Hardest part was the bottom layer. Tough to get a grip and hoist them up. I still must get rid of some zumba clothes. Have a great weekend everyone. :l
Shelley0 -
Kathy, good work getting the mattress upstairs and getting rid of the paper. Tennis is terrific exercise! Nice steps yesterday!
Shelley, yes it was Paula and her DH looking for the car keys on the crazy table! Nice job on your sidewalk and pouring cute stones for Chuck. And I like your workout!
Okay...nine boxes...3/4 full...of books were donated to the library. (I originally packed them 3/4 full when we moved because DH was recovering from back surgery and could not lift any thing, and I couldn't lift a full box of books.) Four 45 gallon bags full of stuff, four large cloth pictures and two metal pictures dropped off at the Good Will depot today. My side of the garage would surprise you now!! DH has a number of boxes to go through, but my stuff is up and out!! I do have things in the cupboards that I want to get rid of, but I think my donations today were enough for one weekend!! And then there's the exercise equipment area!!
So, I worked five or six hours out there and only have 4.0 miles for 8,559 steps!! BUT...this was after 40 minutes at the gym w/DDD. So it was a good day!
Our weather is weird...muggy, heavy winds and warm. Crazy stuff!
Chris
0 -
Yep yep, can't complain about the heat today. That's what's left of Hurricane Linda darkening our skies, Chris, and causing this crazy dark warm muggy weather. They say it may sprinkle on Monday - isn't that the strange wet stuff we haven't seen in months?
Shelley, Thinking about your cement bags causes an involuntary out loud "Ugh" every time. You are a monster girl! So glad you're not retiring yet. I'd have to be jealous of you and Chris. Grrrr....
Kathy, Sorry about Serena. So close!
And I've not found the keys yet. Thinking of taking a picture. You'd get a kick out of seeing the table, but it's too embarrassing.
Hope you're all doing great.
Paula0 -
Paula I would love to see your table! Yes yes yes! I must admit, seeing others clutter inspires me to clean mine. Just thinking about you and those keys got me to clean mine off last night!
. And I am pretty sure I will be sore tomorrow. Truly am done with them heavy bags for this year.
And thanks for the compliments. Grrrrr.
Chris I am so excited for you! Job well done! So cupboards next week? Awesome plan! And the feeling you must have is priceless!
Off to bed now, shoulders are feeling tight.
Shelley0 -
Have been quiet lately but I've been doing well with logging and keeping my calories lower. Hoping it pays off when I get on my scale.
Glad everyone's cleaning and decluttering. I have some to do after I finish yard projects!0 -
Clara I love yard projects. Must invent some new ones for next year. Muahaha
Ok had to pour 2 of the stepping stones over today. I was not entirely happy with the first ones. But I do have a spot for them. Crossing fingers the replacements turn out better. And walked the boys, they have so much fun at the park.
I had so many perfume bottles in he cabinet that they took up two shelves. I hauled them all out and put them where I can see them every morning. That was several months ago. I have been going through them. Using the ones I like and tossing the others. Almost done. I will be keeping the white shoulders DH likes. Using what little I have of a couple I like. Feels great to get it down to just one perfume. :f
Off to finish some laundry,
Shelley0 -
Shelley, I haven't worn perfume for over 30 years! DH had terrible allergies when we first met...perfume was one of them. Funny, but I haven't missed it.
Walked w/DDD this morning then shopped for lunch. The kids came over, we watched scads of footballand had salad and Artisan Tiramisu Bar Cake. DDD likes tiramisu...too sweet for me. I had some stuff from the garage that she could use in her classroom. She was happy and took it. I was happy I hadn't donated it.
Going to go out there now and look at the empty space!
Later my friends!
Chris0 -
First match of fall season completed. My team took 4 out of 5 matches...very good start. My doubles partner and I won 6-3 6-1. Beautiful day in the ATL only 77. I got in 10,214 steps for 4.20 miles.
Falcons home opener tomorrow night with Ron. Should be fun the Eagle's fans are crazy...Lot's of them in Atlanta.
I'm watching the Federer vs Djokovic match now...I know I'm obsessed with tennis right now...but I love it.
