What is a good number for 2 hrs after meal

In my diabetes class, the instructor told us a number below 160 was acceptable.
However, I thought my fasting numbers in the morning were okay if they were less than 130 but not according to most of your readings.
So I am wondering what your thoughts are on after dinner readings!!!

The American Diabetes Association recommends 180 for 2 hrs after eating. The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists recommends 140. It looks like your educator split the difference between the ADA and the AACE at 160.
In its CLINICAL PRACTICE GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING A DIABETES MELLITUS COMPREHENSIVE CARE PLAN – 2015, the AACE says, "it has been accepted that strategies aimed at lowering glucose concentrations can lead to lower rates of ... complications. What have remained under debate are the specific targets for glucose control in patients with DM."
They go on to say that individual targets should be based on age, comorbidities, length of time diabetic, etc., ideally getting as close to normal as reasonable based on these variables.

For myself, since I was recently diagnosed (4 months ago), I've been using the AACE guidelines of <110 before meals and <140 2 hours after.
As I continue to lose weight and exercise more, I hope to get my numbers close to normal, <100 before meals and <120 2 hours after.0 -
I personally like my numbers to be around 6.5mmol (117) to 7mmol (126). Anything more than that I don't like, as I like to leave a bit of a buffer. However my numbers are a lot lower than that due to my activity level and what I eat. My blood glucose levels are commonly around 5.5 ( 6.5 after meals, and in the 4's (72mg) in the morning. I find 4 too low but I know the doctor and specialists would disagree!0

My personal aim is to be under 120 two hours after a meal. That was my goal when I had Gestational Diabetes and I've just never changed it. My fasting goal is to be under 100 though I can't seem to get myself there.0

This sounds like me & what I'm doing! I've been discovering that if my 2-hour post-meal blood sugar gets above 140, it stimulates my appetite for carbs and the higher is it, the more stimulated my appetite gets for the crappy carbs (i.e. bread, sugar, etc.). I'm hoping to get consistently to the same numbers you are (<100 before meals & <120 two hours after meals).
