Just starting overwhelmed by amount of info?

just starting out again. This is my first try counting carbs. My nutritionist has me on 30 carbs per day for the next six weeks. Today I think I had 47 carbs. Any suggestions on the best food plans that are simple and do not take much time to prepare? Where can I find actual three meals a day that are low in carbs? Thank you

@dietguy, welcome! Did you take a look at the Launchpad yet? http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10103966/start-here-the-lcd-launch-pad
Scroll down for links to various versions of LC diets -- Atkins, Banting, etc. and go from there. There are lots of menu plans available online, for free and for money...
Figure out your macros using an online keto calculator http://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/
good luck!

Depending on how much cooking you want to do, the Ibreatheimhungry website has great lchf menu planners: http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/menu-plans-new
But if you are not much of a cook, then something like the following is pretty easy: breakfast - streaky bacon and eggs. Lunch: tuna mayo salad or tinned mackerel salad (I have mine with rocket, olives, feta cheese and tinned mackerel). Dinner, meat, leafy greens, and a shed load of butter.
Now I am not going to think about food any more as I'm fasting today!0 -
Keep it simple to start with. Meat, cheese, eggs, butter, leafy greens and non-starchy vegetables... the majority of my meals center around a piece of meat (usually grilled or pan fried with some butter), a salad and/or vegetables on the side. As you progress, you'll start to get more creative as you learn what foods best fit your macros.
Everyone is a little different but this is a great community and everyone here is full of ideas they are willing to share.

This whole thing is an experiment. 47 isn't bad your first day of counting. After a couple of days, you'll be able to see the foods you can cut a little to bring it down. The LCD Launch Pad is a great resource.0

I agree with the Keep It Simple plan. Protein (beef, pork, chicken, fish, eggs, etc) plus fat (butter, coconut oil, bacon grease, etc) plus a low carb veggie (cabbage, spinach, zucchini, summer squash, mushrooms, etc) .... some people tolerate low net carb nuts (almonds, macadamias, pecans) just fine, some dont. Some people do ok with dairy and artificial sweeteners, some don't.
Newbie question summary: if you are headach-y at first, add in full sodium broth. If you can't poop, add in magnesium citrate SLOWLY. If you drop weight the first week but not the second, you're not in a stall.0 -

Welcome.
This. Focus on this for the first few weeks.
Green leafies and non-starchy veggies: greens (spinach, turnip, mustard, collards), lettuce, broccoli, green beans, asparagus.
Meat (fish, chicken, pork, beef-the fattier the cut the better), hard cheeses, cream cheese, cream, eggs, butter, mayo.
I'd avoid nuts right away, especially if your Dr wants you to do total carbs instead of net carbs. Tomatoes, some berries, avocados, cooked mushrooms and onions, are all carbier veggies that you can get away with more in small amounts if you are net carbs, but not if you are 30 total. Beans, corn, and peas. breads, pasta, rice and anything else sugary or starchy are no-gos.
