I know it is different for everyone but I am really looking for some success stories to help keep me motivated. This week has been good so far, I was hungry last night after church and I knew I would binge when I got home so I stopped on the way home and got some cheese and pepperoni (not the best snack I know but it was low carb and I wasn't that much over my calories with it). I usually eat breakfast around 10am but this morning I was starving and of course someone came in with brownies for appreciation for the nurses BUT I STAYED AWAY FROM THEM!! YEP! They are still in the break room but I just look over them when I go in there and honestly I don't even want one (SURPRISE!) I have learned that I need to eat more often and will be going in a few minutes to grab some stuff to have here at the office for snacks in between meals (found some great looking recipes while I was waiting to eat breakfast LOL). But I digress...I would like to hear some of your success stories and maybe with pics if you have them. Maybe some information about your plan and how much weight you have lost (weight and or inches) and how long it has been since you started....
Thanks!!

130 net. Lost more fat and added about 20 lbs of muscle over 2 years

    44 pants to 32

It has just been sticking with it and watching total calories

I do moderate carbs mainly from veggies

No sugary junk food at all. No doughnuts or cake. No pasta or French fries

I added exercise to add muscle and lead down.

I'm at 13% body fat and tweaking it down slowly.

It has been a lifestyle change becoming more active and not just a diet.

I needed something to do. And now I am that person with an active life. It seems kind of strange at times. I am in a few bike riding teams and we wear our matching suits and ride together. Never thought that would happen!!

I'm training for a sprint triathlon next spring

    Did an obstacle course

Just all those things to make up a new life and not just a diet.

    My plan

    180 grams of protein

Lots of fibrous veggies and fill in calories with good fats

    Exercise

If I want to eat more, exercise it off. No excuses to say it is ok to binge eat. If I do I have to binge exercise to even it out

Results are no longer type 2 diabetic, lowered blood pressure and resting heart rate in the 50's.

Cholesterol is at the bottom of the chart, 127.

    Life is much more fun

My significant other has lost about 50 pounds. He lost most of it, like 40+, within 3 months. He started in May. He started with trying to eat only 20 grams carbs per day, though in the last 2 months he has increased that a bit. I didn't have as much to lose, I lost about 12-14 pounds in that time frame, with a goal of less than 100 grams carbs per day, though usually I'm between 40-80 g.

Hello, I've lost a total of 102lbs so far. I started a low cal diet in November 2014 and changed to low carb mid February. I love the low carb lifestyle because I never feel deprived. I stay under 20 grams of carbs a day, and work out 4 times a week. One piece of advice I can give you is to have low carb foods/ snacks easily available. I'm a nurse also, and a lot of times there are sweet temptations in our break room, but I usually have hunters sausage, cheese and pickles in the fridge to snack on. I usually work 3 12 hour shifts so my workout days are my off days. The longer you follow a low carb lifestyle you'll notice cravings for carbs will go away. I loooooved bread, pasta and potatoes, but after a while it didn't bother me going without them .tt2fpi7bwbzw.jpg

I work in kg so I'll try and convert it best I can, it's 4:48am here, forgive me...

By default, due to low kilojoules/calories, I was 'low carb' from the start, which was Jan 4th this year. I started out at 254.5lbs. I heard about keto some time in Feb and half-assedly gave it a go. I think I followed it pretty solidly from the end of Feb/start of March. Today I am 165lbs and 12oz.

There have been many, many days where I have failed with my eating, given up, gained weight etc. I'm not perfect.

I still have a lot to lose, but I feel amazing. I started out with a BMI of 52 and wearing an NZ/UK size 26 (I think a 22 in the USA). I had a 50 inch waist. My BMI is 33.9 now and my waist is 34". For the first time since we met, I weigh less then my partner. We've been together since teenagers and now in our 30's so it's been a long time coming. I'm an NZ size 16 which is about a 12 or 14 I gather, in the states, I really don't get the clothing system there though.

I have nice skin now, I can walk and walk and walk, then come home and lift weights, run around with the kids and still be full of energy. I have a sex drive again. I have a period again. I am no longer pre-diabetic. I don't need to wear elasticated pants. I can't wait to see how I feel when I reach my goal!

My plan involves having a fitbit charge HR, moving lots, 20 carbs or less and protein and fat seem to sort themselves out. I think last time I checked I average 1500kcal per day, and like kittensmaster, if I want to eat more then I exercise more. My TDEE works out to average at 2400 lately. Which is ok for a 4'11" female I guess.

    I have lost 93lb.

It took me just over a year. I used keto (60-70% fat, 5-10% carbs). Went from a 24 to a size 10.

Meat and veggies, animal fats, low-carb dairy, occasional nuts. I've just started incorporating making low-carb breads with almond and coconut flour to add some variety.

I started exercising 3 times/week a week into the WOE. Now I'm up to 5 or 6 days a week.

If you want to see my progress pics in my profile, you can friend me, I don't have a recent one, just at 88lb lost I think. I'm due for another but I've been super busy lately. Kids are in soccer season. It's nuts.

Wow thanks everyone!! I am planning on starting some type of exercise, right now it is difficult because I am day 3 back to work after having my son 6.5 weeks ago so we are very much still in the adjustment phase. We have weights at the house that I bought for my husband last Christmas (which we haven't used since I was pregnant by the time Christmas came and he got them LOL! So my plan is to start some weight training. I am hoping that once I get my work caught up that I will be able to add walks at lunch. Thanks for all the comments!!

I had WLS, so my weight loss timing isn't realistic. But the LCHF WOE is still the best I've ever found. I used to crave "white foods" and now I don't. I actively avoid them, except when my doctor requires I try them. I'm in keto and use IF. I can't imagine living any other way. This really is easy for me. I only hope you find it easy for you too! This works, but it does take patience. Some benefits are obvious quickly. Others can take weeks or months. It will happen and this place is an amazing resource for information and support.

Some me stats... 45yo, 5', 186lbs, exercise 5-6 days per week (walking and yoga), 120lbs down, 80 to go. There are a couple of progress pics in my profile, my diary is public, and my link to my blog is in my profile too.

Ugh. BAH! Boo on you, MFP.

Here's the thread I posted them in last time for anyone who cares. There's lots of other motivations before and afters in the thread as well.

Like I said, not my current progress pic. I just haven't taken another one. And the pants I wore in them are way too big now. Soon maybe.

I'm ketogenic. Lost 107 lbs. In a little over a year. I do water fasting and a normal Keto diet.

I treat eating carbs as "sin". I try to avoid them like avoiding sin. I can't say "carbs" ruined my life, but not knowing they were bad for me, damn near ruined my life, because carbs made me extremely fat. It robbed 10+ years of my life ~ because I lost my "mobility".

I lost most of weight not doing one single exercise ~ ever. I only started doing exercise recently and only exercise that served a purpose (if you're interested, click on my EASY exercise blog below my signature.)

After months of losing weight, I started stalling. I started adding in water fasting and the weight starting dropping again. I have developed a "water fasting recipe" that works for me and some other people on this list are starting to try it.

I don't know if the above helps or not.... and I think a key to weight loss would be trying different things until you find what works for you. Experiment. Go less, go more, try different foods, carnivore, intermittent fasting, water fasting, ad infinitum.

Find out what successful people are doing and copy that. Eventually you will find the key that unlocks your door to successful weight loss.

    I hope this helps,

I'm not quite in this category yet, but I will be soon. I started at the end of February when my son was about 5 months old. I have modified my carb levels here and there to see if it made any difference, but I think my "sweet spot" is around 25g per day. I am down 47 lbs total to 189 lbs today. I'm trying to get to that 50-lb mark, but being under 190 was a landmark for me. I am now the weight and size I was when my husband and I started dating. Wearing the same clothes I wore back then was my initial goal, and I never imagined I would get there so quickly. Now I'm not sure where I want to end up, but I think it will take another 20 or more lbs for me to feel comfortable and healthy. I haven't exercised very much--I have three young children at home (currently 1, 2, and 3 years old), so finding time for exercise is difficult. I joined a fitness challenge back in June or July, but I quit after day 20 because I got sick. I didn't exercise again until this week. I squeeze in 15-20 minutes of easy cardio, stretching, yoga, or whatever using the Sworkit app I downloaded on Amazon Underground earlier this week. That's the only way I know to get it in consistently. I say that to say this: I lost almost all 47 lbs without any exercise at all, unless you count lugging kids around on my hips as exercise. :) There are weeks and months when it seems that the scale isn't moving one bit, and it gets discouraging, but then a couple weeks later there's a Whoosh!, and I am down a pants size. I think for me the biggest thing that keeps me going is how much better I feel in general. I'm not a person with health problems, but being overweight and out of shape and eating crap food really made me feel unwell. I do not miss feeling lethargic and sluggish after eating, or sugar crashes, or that weird taste I got in my mouth after eating sweets. I do not miss the cravings and the heartburn and the stomachaches. I do not miss the under-eye puffiness and the swollen hands and feet. Most of all, I do not miss the maternity pants I thought I'd wear forever! Now let me see if I can dig up a decent picture.....

I started this WOL on 09/01/2014 so it's been 1 year 17 days today. So far I've eliminated 118 pounds as of this morning's weigh-in. I'm over 2/3rds of the way to my final goal but I've still got roughly 40-50 more pounds to go. When I started I never though I'd make it this far. I'm so glad this WOE has proven to me how following a LCHF lifestyle turns what initially appears to be a difficult goal into a very achievable goal! And good for you for walking away from the brownies!! Keep up the good work!

This is a thread I needed to read. Thank-you all so so much!!!!
I have been LC for 15 weeks starting with only quitting sugar only (then found this woe).
In a 2 week plateau at moment but shed so far 20kg (44lb) and 38cm (15inch) overall. But this result is what keeps me going. I have never stuck to any other woe in my life & I tried so many other ways.
I'm not hungry but getting bord with eggs for breakfast so will find ideas this weekend.
I easily get out of ketosis is every a touch above 25g carbs but still learning what my body needs.

You already know everyone will be pretty different.

I've lost a little over 50 pounds with low-carb (a total of around 75 pounds from my heaviest weight). I did keto for a while before moving to my own sort of thing. These days I am strictly meat, eggs, and dairy. I don't eat or drink anything sweetened. I exercise, from time to time, but only for health and fun. I don't try and use it to lose weight. I don't restrict calories in any way. I might log what I eat and keep a record (sometimes I don't bother), but I ignore the numbers on a short-term basis (anything under a weekly average).

My way is not for everyone, but it works for me.

Almost new here, 3 months LC, dieting 6 months. I lost 70 lbs so far, 45 on LC.
I don't like calling LC a diet, it's just my WOL now. It's how I get better control
of my blood sugar. I keep to 23g carbs a day or less. I eat very little sugar of any
kind. I'll be a pro LCer by the time I lose another 108 lbs.

Lost 80lbs in 7 months or so. Maintained loss for 3 years. My advice stay on top of it. This summer I got lazy and while still low carb are more nuts, berries and calories in general. I got caught up in the "hungries" and gained 10lbs. Current back to logging and losing. I won't be someone who "lost weight and gained it all back!"

I started last Sunday. SW: 172 CW 165 GW 130. I ran for about 20 minutes yesterday, but started feeling dizzy. From what I read, it takes time to become fat adapted so I plan on taking it day by day. In fact, I'm about to jump on the treadmill and re-watch "Weeds" right now.

ARRGHH! This post is about losing 50lbs or more. Sorry, for not staying on topic :#

  • Ok, I'll throw my hat in the ring, too.

Quick stats - started Jan. 12th this year, weighed 402 (409 at my highest). As of today, I'm at 286.

1600 cals, 5% carbs (<20), 20% protein (80+g) and 75% fat (130ishg). I started with 0 exercise, started walking in May with the 30 day walking challenge, averaged 12k steps/day in June, started c25k in July and went on vacation most of August and did virtually nothing! I'm back to trying to learn to run again, every other day but that and walk are all I do for exercise.

I posted this photo on my profile a few days ago and am still in awe of the difference.

I have to agree with Ken, I think, from an earlier post.. this is not a diet, it's the way I need and choose to live my life. It's the only time I've ever lost over 55#, and the only time I've ever been able to see myself eating this way forever. And I'm great with that!!
