val, in a roundabout way the appointment is about sleeping. Basically, I can't sleep due to chest/back/neck pain, so I'm seeing a cardiologist. It's taken me years to figure out what I think this MIGHT be, going early on from a "lump in the throat" feeling that made me think I had esophageal spasms, to lately more chest pressure, etc...all the while, keeping me up well past 3am during the times that this little friend visits (it comes and goes throughout the year). Finally, I found online a type of angina that only comes at night, at rest. I think it might be what's going on and I'm even wondering if it's hormone-related since estrogen is a vasorelaxer. BUT! I started mini-journalling about it, since some nights are okay and others are not. It seems that sustained light/moderate AEROBIC activity (like walking and probably aerobic running) during the day tends to give a "good night"...just figured this out this week!

Marla, I wish I could come up with another activity. People do bike here, but in Athens, it's a bit like NYC and with two young kids, I don't know if I want to take that risk! Sad though, because I always loved biking...it was always my favorite. There aren't community tennis courts in Greece, like in USA. :-( Since the tennis club is very expensive (like a country club), most people play beach racket instead. But I'd need a partner with my same weird schedule. If I had a car w/rack, I'd LOVE to invest in a kayak and/or standup paddleboard, but no car. :-(

Maureen, I'm so glad it's not been hot & humid here. Hot, yes. Thankfully, not humid. :)

April, fall festival sounds nice. I miss Fall. We don't have a real "Fall" here. Back home there are tons of great festivals in the Fall and beautiful colors.

Today I went for a smaller walk first thing, around 5mi. Took it around the Acropolis, Plaka, the government center, National Gardens, President's house, old Olympic Stadium. It was nice except for the massive blister I have on my toe, lol. It's election day (again), so a pretty easy-going day.

Sherry - hope they get it figured out! I'm always a bit jealous when I hear about the cool places you get to walk around on a regular basis. :).

Maureen - what part of the country do you live in? Just curious where it's still humid and hot. Good job getting a run in with the heat!

April - glad you had a good day!

I ended up skipping runs the past two days just because of how stressfully busy I've been. Tonight is the last random extra thing going on. The past three weeks I seem to have had just lots of random extra activities thrown in. Makes my shedule very tight and a bit stressful. Had a good time at the vow renewal. I actually ate quite well. Just two burrito things that I built myself so I stayed away from the cheese and added only a small dollop of sour cream. I had one cupcake and drank only water. My kids asked for pop and I said no. Mainly because it was outside, in phoenix and they were getting pretty sweaty. I wanted them hydrated.

Today is a busy day, with all my church stuff and then my oldest qualified for some market research. But it's at 8pm on the other side of town so another late night for me. I plan to get up and get a run in no matter what. Probably just 3 miles and if I need more sleep I'll take a nap.

    Have a great Sunday everyone!

Looks like a good weekend all the way around!

I planned on resting today but got suckered into taking a long city walk. The weather was really nice and it was mostly downhill. I definitely got my steps today. Weighed in yesterday it was lighter--I was v happy that I finally stopped the bleeding.
