...makes me feel nauseous! And my sense of smell is so acute now! Going to the grocery store is a bit of a PITA because the bakery is near the produce, and the smells from all the dough and batter and what-have-you make me want to turn and run from the store. But my little ones love their fresh fruit, and hubby and I enjoy eating salads and other fresh veggies, so endure it I must....

I have the same feeling when I'm in the bakery at the store! The cakes and stuff smell so sickeningly sweet I actually feel like I can taste the air!

My wife recently made some chocolate-chip banana bread. I liked the smell. I have to admit, I had a little taste. Did not like! Sickening sweet. I'm sure it was delicious to normal people. :)

Even reading this title almost did me in! The smell of bread is my kryptonite! I love it!!! But I can't have it. No. Bad bread. Remember your goals. Wait till a cheat day. No, no, no....

I specifically go to stores at night, when the meat has just been marked down and the bakery is closed.

I love the smell of fresh baked bread...my gut doesn't. I have to say though, I have gotten over "missing" it. Thank heavens! Sweet stuff...yuck. I decided to try a coffee in my mother Keurig called Salted Caramel. I haven't had sugar products in over 6 weeks. I took one sip and :s I had to run to the sink and spit it out! Who'd a thunk! I have not had a cheat day, and I think I probably won't at least till I get to my goal...not sure, scared to!

We went to subway for lunch Sunday. I had tuna on a white bread roll.
The smell of the fresh bread just added to the meal. It was a shame it
wound up in the trash. The 12" sub was cheaper than the chopped salad.
    Go figure.

If a guy wanted to attract me, all he would need is bread cologne.

Nauseating here too! I avoid the bread section as much as I can. Walking by the tables set up with cake, doughnuts, cookies...yuck! We all have our weaknesses, thankfully bread isn't mine!

    I live opposite a bakery :/ ... but also next to a butcher :)

I used to wonder how wasps could sense sugary items and come swarming. Now I know - I can smell the sugar off strawberries etc now. Weird.
  • There is a pizza place next to the gym

The smell or crust or garlic bread should be illegal that close to a gym!

LOL As a celiac, the smell just makes me nervous.

I so WISH the smell of bread made me get nauseated! It doesn't and I do love the smell of fresh-baked bread. But I am definitely guilty of enjoying the sheer smell of sugar just as much. My guilty pleasure is walking through the bakery section of the grocery store and just deeply inhaling all of that lovely sugar smell. Thankfully, I am no longer tempted by the sight of all those carby bedevilers. lol But alas, yes, I still like these smells way too much!!

I felt that way at first, but not anymore. I used to just smell the donuts brought into the office. Now I have to steer clear or my stomach turns.

When I've been in ketosis for a couple months it's like walking through a perfumery for me. The mix of smells is interesting, sometimes nice, but I don't associate it with food. Right now, though. I want to cry. Why did I make myself start back at square one like this?

The bread and bakery is located at the end aisle of the store next to the ice cream. No reason to go down #16 at all. #15 is pet food, #14 is paper products and pharmacy, #13 is candy, hallmark cards, misc. I stop at #12 and turn around. I love the person who designed my Stop and Shop. LOL.

@sweettea - I love this! - -"I specifically go to stores at night, when the meat has just been marked down and the bakery is closed."

I go Sunday late night - no one is there & same reasons. Except that the fish section is closed too. Now I only buy fish the day I plan on eating it which works out well on a number of levels.
