Hi all! I am doing a combo 16:8 and 5:2 and have really been shocked at how maintainable it is. This is the closest thing I have EVER come to knowing I can use as a life style change, not just a temporary change. Once I hit goal, I would try doing 16:8 only or a 6:1, but until then, I will keep on trucking
I have a question for you experienced folk--I have only done two fasts so far. I ate my last meal Sunday afternoon at 5pm and began the fast. I broke the fast on Monday at 5pm with 500 calories (ok, to be exact 530). All during my fast I felt fantastic! Focused, energized and even got a great workout during the fast. But that night (after the fast) I had a hard time sleeping and next day I felt like poop on a stick. Is it normal to feel rough AFTER the fast? I thought if it was going to happen, it would be DURING the fast....
Thoughts, I would love any input for my newbie-self. Thanks in advance!

I have been doing 5:2 for about 9 months and lost around 32 lbs. I have had nights when I have trouble sleeping the night of the fast, but it is inconsistent. So I'm not sure if it's related. I have also had mornings after a fast when I wake up feeling "flu-ey", kind of achy. But again it's not consistent. I attribute it to poor air quality in my area/allergies or just luck if the draw. I'd just pay attention to see if you notice a pattern.0

Intense exercise induces cortisol and adrenaline hormones. Make sure to winddown properly, relax body before bed. Both fasting and exercise induce alertness to an extent.
Achy, flu-ey, try more sodium and potassium. It could be atkins flu, depending on your carbohydrate intakes and carbohydrate sensitivity/intolerance on feast days. Experiment0
