Had a Terrible Weekend! So, I'm going to dedicate this post Yogi Berra. He was a very successful baseball player and he recently died.

WARNING LONG and POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE POST AHEAD...
DO NOT READ IF YOU'RE EASILY OFFENDED
OR HAPPY WITH STALLS!

Ok, you were forewarned.

Background...

The last few weeks since I got back from China, this has been weight loss record:
I gained 5 lbs in China.

Sep 5th: The very first full week after China I lost ALL 5 lbs plus .3 pound more.

Sep 18th: (I skipped a weigh-in when I was in Texas, BUT, I did a fast on every Thursday, no skips.) I lost 6.7 lbs! Divide by two, that's: 3.35 lbs lost each week.

Sep 25th: Lost 3.1 lbs.

For those that don’t know me, I do Keto and water fasting. There are many ways successful people lose weight on this group, mainly by doing Keto/Low Carb and they may add things like:
Carnivore
Lots of Exercise
Intermittent Fasting (Less than 24 hours fasting)
Water Fasting (greater than 24 hour water fasting)

The above tools, sometimes enhance their weight loss. The tool I use is Water Fasting. I call it the "Recipe".

I tell my MFP friends (on my wall) about this “Recipe” of water fasting where I do certain things on certain days and I lose weight consistently. The “water fasting” tool breaks stalls ~ for me (YMMV). I actually made a new user group on MFP that explains the "Recipe".

One of the aspects for the recipe is that you shouldn’t eat a lot of calories the next few days after the Fast day. Well, I blew that this weekend! From the fast day, the company picnic and yesterday, I ate way too much calorie-wise.

So, today is the mid-week of my weigh-in day. My Fast day is always Thursday. I weigh-in on Friday’s. Then on Friday (break fast day), Saturday, Sunday ~ I usually gain 1-5 lbs back, depending upon how “bad” I am on those three days.

Well, today (Monday), I am at 206.8 lbs ~ which is 6 lbs. higher than my last weigh-in of 200.8! Not good! I wanted to bust through the 200 lbs lost barrier on this Friday’s weigh-in.

Here's a pic of my scale from this morning, I'm not a happy camper!:

So, I could garner your sympathy and say:
“Woe is me”

or

“Help I’ve fallen and I can’t get up”

or

“Don’t you feel sorry for me?”

or

“Give me a pass”

or

“We all fall off the wagon, who are you to cast the first stone?”

But, I’m not going to play any of the above cards. Why? Because its just not me. I’m not going to wallow in the mire of stalls and weight gains. I'm going to get out of the mire. I am goal driven, not “excuse” driven. Pre-keto I gave every excuse known to man for being morbidly obese. I now have the tools to lose weight and prevent stalls. So excuses are not an option for me. Even if I don’t lose this Friday, it won’t be because I didn’t try, I’ll go down swinging.

So, I’m going to play the “Yogi Berra” card:

bczhuyfkl96g.png

Each week of weight loss is ~ to me ~ a “baseball game”, each day is an inning. I have 7 days to win this game of weight loss. I’m only half way through it now. The opponent is 6 points (lbs) up.

I have three more days (or innings) to get back on track and win this week. Water fasting is wonderful when combined with Keto. Your hunger levels are so reduced, that you can fast or skip meals with ease. Stalls are a thing of the past for me.

So, I want to win this week’s game, and still produce a loss by Friday. No holds barred, I’m going to do what it takes to get there. I have a long term plan, and its want to win the “pennant”. What is my “pennant?” you ask… I want to be at my goal weight of 179 or below by Christmas time. So I have 20+ lbs to lose. But to win the “pennant” you have to win the games. I have to win this week’s game, lets see if I can do this by Friday morning.

To be sure that this isn’t just idle talk, wishful thinking or just a "rah, rah, rah" speech, I HAVE overcome deficits like this before. Several times this year. I have been 5 lbs over on the morning of the day I started fasting and lost 6 lbs on the fast. (Its all about the water).

Today, I’m not working, I traded my Saturday off day for today. I’m going out and work on my shed today, (3 coats paint, hopefully).

Cheer me on, but don’t sympathize…I hope everyone has a great week! :)

I love the comparison to a baseball game Dan! Makes the process fun and competetive.
I may have to check out your group so I can see if I think your recipe is something I'd be interested in trying. I'm hesitant about fasts longer than 20ish hours, but I don't mind challenging myself for the purpose of trying new things for the sake of personal growth and learning.

    The 7th inning passed.

DittoDan's batters Low Kal and Carnivore Kelly struck out and didn't score. With two outs, a batter with the initials B.M. ~ came out swinging, but struck out.

The pitcher for the other team, DOMS, is still holding out. Hopefully he'll weaken by the ninth inning.

    Anti-weight Loss: ..6
    DittoDan:...............2

The fans are getting worried. Up to bat now:

    Les Salt I.F.
    Low Kal

Hopefully they can even this game up before the ninth inning.

Can DittoDan pull this one out? Stay tuned...

    8th inning complete.

IF and Lo Kal came out swinging.

Then BM came in late and scored a run.

    Anti-Weight Loss:....6
    DittoDan..................4

Up to bat now: WF, he's a heavy hitter.

The crowd is on their feet, can DittoDan pull this out? I don't know, but it will close!

    Stay tuned!!!

    It's the ninth inning

    DittoDan's team is down 6-4.

    But he's making a comeback.

IF, Low Kal have made it to the bases. It looks like the opposition team's batter DOMS has weakened. The speed of his pitches have slow down immensely.

The crowd is on their feet.

WF is at bat. He has the leagues best batting average and most home runs scored.

There's two outs and he steps up to bat.

First swing he misses. Second swing is a foul ball. DOMS throws thee balls.

Full count now. Bottom of the ninth inning. DOMS winds up, throws, WF hits the ball squarely and hard.

The left fielder is backing up, backing up, he leaps as he hits the wall...

But the ball is long gone!!!!! Another home run...The crowd roars!!!

DittoDan's team scores 3 runs and win this week's game 7-6!

What's historic about this game is that it breaks the team win/loss record set in 1986....!

I thank God for another huge barrier and milestone passes today.

    I am at 199.5 lbs. I think they call this, One-derland. one-derfull!

The last time I weighed below 200 was in 1986 when I had a bet with a friend to see who could get to 200 lbs first. We both weighed 240 at that time. I had gained 60 lbs from high school (1975). It was my first of 4 major diets I have done in the last 29 years. It was a low fat diet. I remember that the day I hit 200 ~ I immediately stopped doing the diet because I was so damn hungry all the time. And I gained it all back in the subsequent months. And I added back more than when I started (you know the routine).

BTW. I won the bet by one pound. My friend took us out to eat a steak dinner with our wives.

I have at least two more goals, the next goal is to weigh 179 lbs by Christmas.

Congrats on pushing through to a new best! I can't wait until Onderland myself.

Although I have to give thanks to midday fasting for firmly pushing me into the next size smaller of jeans! :) So even if my scale doesn't want to like me, the measuring tape will, I guess. I've been avoiding it because I don't want to get fooled by numbers. LOLz
