Work was a total time drain for me this past week. So much time sitting in front of the computer and not nearly enough movement. Luckily I was even on the scale again but I'm not feeling so great. So this evening, I carved some time out and fired up the Daily Burn and did the first workout of Cardio Sculpt (Thighs, Butts, and Hips or something like that), which is rated an easy workout. I've really lost a lot of what I could do. The last time I did this workout, it was a cakewalk... this time, not so much. It was a struggle just to do the simple stuff but I did it and I felt pretty good afterwards. I'm really going to get back with the program again so hopefully it won't take long to get back into workout shape again.
I finally made an appointment to go see a doctor about my shoulder. Unfortunately with the way things work now, it's not until January. I may call around and see if I can see a different doctor before then.
Have a great week!0 -
Hi Scott! I am still around - I've been pressed for time the past two weeks too due to several projects really just ramping up at work and coming to a head at the same time. Stupid employers actually expecting me to work when all I really want to do is surf MFP! Lol! :P
I hope you'll be able to find the time to get yourself out of your chair more often this week - I am trying the same. I love that BHT workout! It is no joke though - really gets the lower body burning. I felt the way you did when I did my first workout after vacation earlier this summer. Hopefully you'll get a couple under your belt and it'll be back to normal. I've been doing the DailyBurn365 program. I ditched CardioSculpt for it at the beginning of the month and I'm really loving it! I love CardioSculpt too - but the 365 program is a different trainer and a new full-body routine every single day, so it really keeps your interest. No 'DB Challenge' and no calorie burn counts though, so I just estimate them at a generic 150 kcals per day to be on the safe side. The host of the live show - JD Roberto - actually read my Facebook post from yesterday's workout page on the air today! My 30 seconds of fame! Lol!
I lost 1.6 lbs a week ago, which was awesome, but unusually high for me - but that was followed by an only .2 lb loss this week. So that averages out to about .9 lbs/wk average, which is about my usual. So on Sunday I was only 2.6 lbs away from goal - but that elusive finish line seems determined to drag on like the ending of a bad romance novel! So far this week, I am now back up - I am 3.8 lbs from goal as of this morning, so I've gained most of my last two weeks' losses back. Sigh. I'm pretty sure it's because I started lifting weights again on Monday. I'm pretty sore from that session and they say your muscles retain water for a couple days after a lifting workout. S'Alright - I realllllly wanna keep going with the lifting and I'm pretty sure I'll stay sore and possibly retaining water for quite a while if I continue - so I'll just treat this as a 'reset' to being 3.8 lbs from goal and keep on going. I am really interested in checking into that foam rolling too - I'll be doing some research on that this week.
I hope you can find a doctor to see you sooner! That's crazy - a 3 month wait! I think it's good you're going though - pain is no fun and you definitely don't want to risk making the injury worse, so hopefully the doctor can help you out! Hope your week is going well too - and your's too DebbieInca!0 -
Oh yah - re: skiing in the Laurel Mtns - I've actually only gone downhill skiing one time and it was not a successful outing! I got about 3/4 of the way down the mountain before I took off my skis and walked the rest of the way - lol. I could swish to the right, but not to the left. Every time I tried, I'd fall over. That was back when I was overweight and really out of shape though. I wonder if I'd do any better if I tried again now?0

Funny you should mention DB365 Kristine, uh I mean the world famous Kristine!! I just got my beta invite that afternoon and so I actually did that workout and your post was shown pretty much right away and no wonder they loved it. I like that word "stick-to-it-tivenss" and they even used it at the end of the program, so WTG!!!
Normally, I would've thought that workout was way too easy... kinda like how I felt about the BL workouts after our BLBC week #8 ended, but not this time around. That BHT workout seriously messed me up! For over 2 days, I was walking like an old man and it hurt to either sit down or stand back up. Once I got to sitting or standing I was ok but man, I was so very very sore. My hammys and my butt were Anja's casualties and they let me know just how upset they were with the change of routine! Anyways, that DB365 workout was just the ticket to get moving again. I couldn't do all of it, especially the bend down into a downward dog type of pose and do a shoulder pushup and I wimped out some of the other movements when they speed up the pace, but I did what I could. I'm still pretty sore but much better off than if I didn't do anything.
I'm looking forward to when they can get that DB365 to work on the mobile apps, like on my iPad. I was able to send my computer screen over to my Apple TV via AirPlay but it was not as smooth as a normal workout of theirs, but I do like where it's more of a live group and that there will be a new one every day. Maybe one of these days, I'll do it during the live broadcast. Plus the normal program workouts get kinda old if you see them more than a handful of times. Hopefully they will have Cody come in as a trainer since he's become my favorite (with Anja a close second), but I kinda doubt it since he's based in LA and that DB365 is in NYC, but you never know.
That's so awesome you are getting so close to your goal! I can tell you're a bit frustrated in not getting exactly to it but in true Kristine fashion, you are all over the reasons why so it's just a matter of time before you are there, crossing the finish line with your hands raised high over your head letting out a "whoop whoop!!!". Well I say finish line, but that's not your true finish line... that's just the checkpoint line that took on the role of finish line so many months ago. I'm sure you already have spotted the next finish line!
You so need to check out foam rolling! It's really beneficial and feels so good after you do it. I've gotten away from it lately but I'm starting to roll out a bit more this week. Once you get a good foam roller, check out the DB Recovery videos with Lindsey (I think that's her name). They are really done well, even though she annoys my wife, but the way you use the foam roller itself is great. Also, while you are it, check out what you can do with a lacrosse ball. Those are great to roll under your feet and provide the precise pressure points on other parts of your body. They are also covered in those Recovery videos. I cannot recommend the foam roller any higher than I already do.
I may have told this before but during last Christmas, we were visiting some in-laws and I was dealing with some pretty bad back pain, where I couldn't stand straight. I get that every now and then, which is usually stress related but it takes a while to get out of that funk. Anyways, my new sister-in-law (she's the one that got married in Las Vegas, NV in July) introduced me to her foam roller and it really did help me feel better, and that's when I had to get my own roller. There are several types but I like the 4 foot long, dense (usually black) roller since I'm tall. I really like laying on it where the roller is lengthwise with my spine. You could probably get by with a 2 foot long one for the other ways you can use it. They got some funky ones that size that have different textures, and we have one of those too, but I prefer the simple 4 foot roller.
You would probably do a lot better at skiing now that you are in great shape. But if you do, I would go for a lesson to help you get down that mountain quicker. I love to ski, not that I'm great at it, but after I had a one hour private session with an instructor, it was so much easier and more fun too. With all the drought California has gone thru lately, I haven't gone skiing in a long time so I'm sure I'll be rusty when I get back out there. I may take another lesson just to maximize my enjoyment time on the slopes.0 -
Hey everyone sounds like you two are back on track. The last few wees I started getting up at 5:15 and getting in a workout. I have been doing walking tapes because I am in a challenge again with fitbit. I am going to check out the DB you two are talking about. I have not lost any weight but am going to start tracking.
Today we meet with the liver specialist to see what he has to say, then next month with the neuo doctor to see what her results are for my son.0 -
Hi Debbie. That's great that you are getting in workouts, as it's really tough to start up again. The DB workouts have been great and the new 365 program is a different twist worth checking out.
I hope things are progressing in the positive direction for your son.0 -
Thanks guys!! We meet with the neurologist next week.0

We meet with the new doctor and he is great. Everything went well, and the meds look great too. We were with him for almost 2 hours. So hoping we never have to see him again.
