synthroid vs. Levothyroxine

Is there any real difference in the weight loss or gain between the two. And if you are currently on Levothyroxine (150), can you switch to Synthroid? Have to keep the TSH very low to keep cancer from returning.

Biochemically, they have to be equivalent to meet the FDA standards. What differs is what they use for fillers. This has been a debate for a long time, brand name versus generics.

You can always try Synthroid for a month, pay to get the real deal and see if you feel any different. I am eight months in to hypothyroidism and have yet to get the right amount of meds. I am using generic levo but have wondered about Armour or Cytomel which are prescribed far less than levo. I think getting a doc to prescribe them might be difficult though as they are considered to be more old school but I have read on forums of people having better results with those drugs (or combos thereof) than with the standard levo/Synthroid script most people get.

if you do try it post about it because I would love to know. I have been on the levo rollercoaster for so long and am getting tired of it (literally).
