Today's question: Why am I so fatigued?

I have been fighting fatigued for the last 2 or 3 days. I have been keeping my numbers really good, (except Tuesday my son's birthday cake) my carbs have been <50, fats and proteins are good. I have had three day of exercise this week. But I am really cold and tired? Anyone have this issue? I also have taken all my meds I am still on. I appreciate any comments.

Could it be dehydration or low in electrolytes (sodium)?

Could be just a cold. Hope it goes soon though.

You must, must, must, increase your sodium intake. I looked at your diary a bit ago and even asked then how you are feeling. You aren't getting the sodium you need! Eat a dill pickle, eat some pork rinds.... it will help. I don't mean to sound harsh. You are going through a transition period that can be hard. Try to hang in there. It gets so much better on the other side of this transition! But yes, get some salt in you dear!

I am taking a B12 vitamin in the morning and another noon(ish). This has prevented me from feeling tired all the time. I agree with the sodium. I drink chicken broth 2x a day. One at 11am and one at 3pm.

Let us know if this works for you. I wish you well.

Thanks for your suggestions. My blood sugar was down to 70 which the doc doesn't want below 80. So I will try the broth and add more sodium. I am hanging in there but thanks for the encourage words.

Why does your doctor want it higher than 80? It's not even like 70 is that low. Are you experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms? Also, are you on any medication for blood sugar (like metformin)?

As for being tired, the recommendation for increasing sodium will help. Also, watch that you don't have too much of a deficit. That will make you cold and tired pretty quickly.

Yes I am on metformin. She doesn't want it lower that 80. I have been getting head aches and have been really cold & tired.. I don't know if those are symptoms. I do see her on Thursday. Maybe she will take me off the metformin ????

I would highly recommend that you bring it up, if she doesn't suggest lowering or eliminating your metformin prescription. Doctors don't always like to do that. They would rather you stay on the medication. Metformin will make it harder for your body to regulate its own glucose (as it hinders the liver's ability to create glucose as needed). The headaches could be a result of going too low. In any case, talk with your doctor and stress that you would prefer less medication and lower carbs to the alternative of keeping the carbs high enough to counteract the medication.
